No, it's not only UK officers.

Who else?

Come on, are you surprised? The numbers are extraordinarily high. Perhaps coming down a little in the last 10 years. Not only hardened criminals fleeing home country and attempting to "lay low" h

Good news ... Books on loan to children and young people (0-15 years) Three week loan period No charge for overdue books. Please make every effort to return books on time.

Do you count the Iranian terrorists from about 10 or 12 years ago? I think Thailand eventually let them go free back to Iran.

Definitely not the Joker, Penguin or Riddler. They would call a lot of attention due to their get up, you would notice them.

I think I saw Twoface in a bar in Pattaya though.

Good, and what about the other countries?

The British police have officers permanently stationed in Pattaya and Bangkok. They are actively looking.

That makes sense, because parts of Pattaya should be re-named little Britain.

There are whole neighborhoods in Dubai where the most common job description is businessperson/politician/gangster.

It's getting more difficult. Those that have been here many years under the radar might manage it.

More recent ones though. Sooner or later their passports will expire, even if they are using another identity. Renewal time may present a problem, but if they can renew, but never leave the country, they may continue to lay low.

Nowadays the finger printing might be the downfall. Do the Thai authorities fingerprint travellers departing by land or sea? They have done by air for a few years now. Are these prints checked against any foreign databases? Or just to check who enters, leaves?

Loads from low rank to high ranked criminals from all types of crime .

Guy I knew in samui lived there for years and would go out now and again not acting out of ordinary or throwing money around. He was woken by Thai and UK police at his expensive villa and arrested .

Turns out he was wanted for skipping country while being charged with importing £50 million of ecstasy.

Thailand, the Tortuga of the 21st century...

Thailand is not the smartest place to try to hide in. The RTP seem to be good at extraditing criminals if requested/incentivized to do so  by the criminals' home countries.

Most criminals are stupid. They come to a place like this thinking they can find a desperate chick to hideout with- but when things go south then the crim gotta move and gets popped. Better off hiring in Brazil, nobody gives a hoot there.

A fellow I knew seemed like a normal guy, but from things that he and his Thai wife said probably committed insurance fraud and maybe bigamy!  It seems that he took out a life insurance policy and then left his wife and children back in Farangland and moved to Thailand.  His wife then claimed that he had died while overseas and was able to claim the insurance after a few years while he married a Thai woman, had a child and started a new life here.

He was on about 10 years overstay when he had a heart attack and died.

They don't arrive with labels, stating they are criminals.... This is another strange post

I am rather surprised that these guys can "hide out" without fake passports. I don't remember any being caught under an alias or a fake passport. Considering how everything is on computer these days, how could they enter the country without a red flag on the immigration computer?

I guess I am not cut out to be a criminal on the lam.

It's very simple, most countries DON'T want their criminals to return, too much paperwork, plus the costs involved

I think that is true. Why go to the expense of arresting them, getting them deported, and then paying to keep them in prison. As long as they are not actively involved in ongoing crimes. Thailand serves as a free open prison.

I only knew one significant individual. I was playing cards with him when he got a phone call from Victor Bout, just before the DEA arrested him, minutes later.
