So sad. He really has descended into the mad old Grandpa waving his shotgun at the neighbours.

Let's all try to remember him for the great actor he once was.

His comments on the  idiocy of tariffs  were reasonable. The mad old  Grampa is Jon Voight, who  gave Trump the idea of  the tariffs on foreign films.

He is a courageous man who speaks truth to power, and neither Trump, nor his devotees can stand that truth. I admire him for that. Someone needs to call the goon out on his reckless policies and callo

De Niro!

And all honestly earned by hard work on his part.

No rich Daddy or trust fund to help Robert De Niro.

And what is your claim for success?

Whose moaning?  Every time Trump makes to lefties angry, I get happier.  I love watching lefties chase their tails.

You are, for one, plus most of the other Trump supporters on AN.

Another totally ridiculous reply, and not based to truth, facts, reality, or life in the universe most of us share.

Of course it's true.

Tariffs on imports encourage local production and consumption.

Why do you think you see so many Ford Rangers on Thai roads instead of Ford F150's?

The Thais get it. Western Liberals are dumb as...

LOL.  Keep chasing that tail, you'll catch it sooner or later.

I detest these award ceremonies and stopped watching decades ago after they became a personal pulpits  for political statements.  DeNiro is irrelevant.  The dude is now a mediocre actor infected with a mind-virus which is approaching epidemic proportions in liberal America.  He should seek professional help.

If he is a mediocre actor, what does that male you?

It certainly doesn't make you a psychologist. a psychiatrist or any other sort of a doctor, who can diagnose a person simply by reading a post on an obscure English language website in Thailand.

Now IF you can bank that up with a professional diagnosis from more than one doctor, it maybe be somewhat believable.

I loved that he said " Honey"  Can you image if he said that these days.  It would be all over CNN and he would be cancelled.

You are absolutely correct, however when he was alive he called all women 'honey', it was different way back!

If only that Jon Voight fella would dry up too, don't you agree?

You have a point, the problem is celebs in general mostly think their thoughts mean more than ordinary folk.

De Niro stands out though, he goes into mind numbing rants, clearly he is very troubled!

What about all the other actors the Leader dislikes? Are Seth Rogen, Debra Messing, Brad Pitt, Alec Baldwin, Arnold Schwarzenegger, George Clooney, Whoopi Goldberg, Bette Midler, Barbra Streisand, Meryl Streep, and Rosie O'Donnell all “very troubled” too?

And the singers? Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Rihanna, Snoop Dogg, Jay-Z, Beyoncé, John Legend, Taylor Swift, Cher, Madonna — some of the most popular and influential artists in the world — all unstable just for speaking their minds?

Then there are the TV personalities: Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert, Seth Meyers, Trevor Noah, Oprah Winfrey, Joy Behar, Mika Brzezinski, Joe Scarborough, Don Lemon, Anderson Cooper — all well-known, successful voices in mainstream media.

If that many widely respected, popular public figures from so many walks of life are “troubled,” maybe the problem isn’t them.

There are many people on AN who rant much more explosively than RDN, however their lack of celebrity means that they are not newsworthy.

He is entitled to hold a position and he is entitled to express it as he chooses, just like the rest of us. If the media decides to highlight his comments, that's their choice.

A totally ridiculous post. Just like with his highly ignorant tariffs, taxing films made overseas will not help the US industry. Trump does not get it. Why are films being made overseas? Why are products being made overseas? Because the US costs and inflation are out of control. He has no understanding of globalization. He is just not smart enough and he is being very poorly advised.

DeNiro continues to do very well, and gets as many projects as he can handle.

He doesn't do them very well though, does he?

He's an actor not a political commentator. He spent his life glorifying gangsters and murderers. NUTTER. Senile like old Joe.

You have listed some of the most talentless people in the arts & media except Neil Young, of course.

Funny how all these “talentless” people just happen to be the ones who’ve criticized Trump. And yet, they’ve built massive careers, won major awards, and shaped pop culture for decades.

It’s almost like “talentless” really just means “not loyal to Dear Leader.”

Leaving out Neil Young? That’s pure sacrilege against the Leader. You’d better say 100 Hail Marys Hitlers and reflect on your sins.

He is troubled by having a president who is insane, reckless, semi senile, old, hateful and an absolute goon. I am too.

“Art looks for truth” he claims.

All of his movies are fictional.

Better ways to spend taxpayers dollars on than propping up actors.

Perhaps he is planning his future to be called upon to make a million or 2 showing up to a Dem convention.

Do you have a problem with reality and movies.

He is an actor simply doing the job he is paid to do, which is to act the part.

And all of them have more talent in one finger than you have in your whole body.

How many people would pay to see you perform at anything?

Speak for yourself , and don’t include the rest of us.   Trump is the “ mad old Grandpa “  who will bring no good to the US and abroad.

Don't forget that he has more talent than all of those people put together.

If he is that good, why is he not on the stage, in movies and in recording studios. showing the world his multiple talents?

Can't watch De Niros movies any more.

Watched a bit of The Irishman but every time he appeared on screen I was expecting him to break out into his "Trump is a MFER" spiel. Turned it off.

Sad way to end a great career. He was excellent as Max Cady.

I get what your saying

But I still watch and enjoy his movies, as that's what his good at, acting.

He just needs to stick to doing just that.

instead of using his acting stardom,  to just run his stupid mouth off all the time.

There are many like him in Wally World / Hollywood.

“Can’t watch De Niro — he reminds me of what he said about Trump.”

Bro... that’s acting. If he’s living rent-free in your head while playing a 70-year-old mobster, he’s clearly talented and doing his job.

That's the problem. His acting is no longer strong enough to forget who he is.

I don't see the character. I see De Niro playing a character. We all decline with age.

Like boxers it is sometimes best to bow out in your prime. Nobody wants a ruined legacy.
