U.S. economy is experiencing ‘death by a thousand cuts’, says Deutsche Bank

Most people don't realize how profoundly troubling Moody's downgrade of US debt was.

U.S. economy is experiencing ‘death by a thousand cuts’, says Deutsche Bank, as confidence in national debt management erodes

"As Deutsche Bank’s Jim Reid put it in a note seen by Fortune this morning: “Yesterday felt like we were somewhere along the line of a ‘death by a thousand cuts’ with regards to the U.S. fiscal situation. Hard to know where in that thousand we are but probably much nearer a thousand than at zero even as yesterday saw an initial sell-off reverse as the session went on."

that bad, huh?

Worse but it'll take maga cultists rather longer to realize that their totally incompetent dear leader has damaged the American brand permanently. Nobody trusts the US any more even very long term close allies and they're right to not trust us.

I suppose Americans collectively deserve the pain we're in for as somehow he managed to take power again.

America is a "brand"?

Gucci is a brand.

America is not a handbag.

US Treasury bond rates are soaring. That's because other countries are selling them.

Bond rates are an indicator of investor confidence in a country.

The Australian 10 year bond rate is 4.4%. The USA is 4.6%.

Investors having more confidence in Australia than the USA is not a good sign. It's fairly unprecedented.

This has been a long time in the making.    The debt has been out of control since the late 2000s.

10 year U.S. treasury bonds are estimated to drop to 4.3% by the end of the year. The long term average is 4.25%. The sky is falling.

I thought DOGE was taking care of all the excess spending?

Guess not? The working class will pay for the debt while to billionaires are getting a tax cut.

The uneducated masses will all say hail trump and pretend it is all part of a master plan!

It is of course part of a master plan but by the time M.M's get it it will be too late.

They can't even protect the weather accurately 2 days ahead but they gonna tell you what the bond rate will be in 7 months.

The yields on 30-year Treasury bonds - a proxy for super long-term U.S. government borrowing costs - reached 5.108%, its highest since October 2023 and the 20-year yield hit 5.126%, its highest since November that year.

Ok, you got me. 20 & 30-year bonds at highest level in 18 months. This is a unmitigated disaster. The sky is falling faster than ever.
