Extraordinary comment. Are you really 'sure he is a pothead idiot' ? He might be, inter-alia,  a drunken idiot, an ecstasy idiot, a cocaine  idiot, a meth idiot,or just an idiot.

He had had a couple of beers which he admitted to, he wasnt tested so absolutely no proof that he was over.

So "heavy intoxicated" is not yet "over". Driving Ok.

Legally over is 50 mg!

Two to three beers depending on body mass.

Think before writing

Kindly explain how you can be 'sure'.

Wrong. It is totally tolerated here.  In Chaiyaphum where my wife is from the signs read “if drunk please drive slow”

drunk driving is against the law in Thailand and pretty much every country in the world, if you don't understand why then you need your head looked at

A complete loser.  You ask what is wrong with this loser? Answer: About everything. Recommendation:  Fine, jail and deport him with a life-time ban. Considering his age, he simply cannot be rehabilitated. A real no-hoper.

Wonder if he was missing his flip-flops?

Spend him a one way Ticket back to Aussieland......and bye:coffee1:

The gentleman’s motorbike broke down so he did the right thing seeking assistance from the rescue team and accidentally broke a door.

He had had a couple of beers which he admitted to, he wasnt tested so absolutely no proof that he was over.

And forgot to fill out a few forms at the immigration office.

Nothing malicious.

Seemingly, two beers were sufficient for him to admit to being unable to work out no one was inside and caused him to break the glass in the door. Must have been strong beer.

but you’re right about the forms of course, how about we all stop filling out pesky government forms, here and in other countries. Let’s see how that works out for us.

Off too the Monkey House then Skippy

A 51-year-old Australian man has been arrested after allegedly vandalising a rescue booth while intoxicated, in what he claimed was a drunken misunderstanding. He was later found to have overstayed his permission to stay by nearly a year.

The suspect, identified as Mr Nathan James Webber, was detained by police on 22 May following an incident two days earlier, when a booth operated by the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation.

image.jpeg

According to police, Webber was heavily intoxicated at the time. After his motorcycle reportedly broke down near the booth, he heard voices over a two-way radio and mistakenly believed someone was inside. Seeking help, he attempted to enter the booth by forcing the door open, smashing the glass in the process. Once he realised the voices were from a radio and not a person, he fled the scene, leaving behind his motorbike.

Tourist Police later located Webber at a property in Soi Najomtien 8 and arrested him at approximately 16:05 on 22 May. He admitted to being the person seen in CCTV footage recorded at the scene.

image.png

During questioning, Webber explained that he had been heavily intoxicated and confused. Believing there was someone inside the booth who could assist him, he forced his way in. He later encountered some of the foundation’s volunteers but was unable to communicate effectively due to the language barrier and his level of intoxication.

A subsequent background check revealed that Webber had overstayed his permission to stay, by 343 days. He will now face charges by Pattaya City Police, before being handed over to immigration, for further actions.

Thailand always had their share of trashy foreigners, but certainly seems to have increased dramatically since after covid

I'm an Aussie, it's not nice to see fellow Aussies making the headlines but this guy really screwed up.

I reckon he deserves those righteous comments.

takes a lot of work to stay fit over 50, so good on this guy.

OK, I do agree with you....  BUT.....  let's say he has either 800k an agent (no clue, let's say 40k).   OK, let's go with the agent.  Let's keep it at "a little bit of money."

He's on overstay for a year.   He drinks.

That's still likely 20k times 12 or 240k and then another 40k for the agent fee and that's just rent and sleeping for a year with a few beers.

240k becomes the real "little bit of money" and we don't know how long he stayed here, do we?  maybe he's been here for years.    I can easily see farangs not having this.

been here a decade (I like repeating myself, and the decade isn't until September 1 anyhow...lol) and I've met many teachers who come here and have to BORROW money (some 50k) in their first month.  Agency pays them, I give them nothing.  These are the responsible ones taking care of your kids.  hahahahahahahahahhaha.   Decade ago I came here with the 340k cash allowed and a few credit cards/ATMs for emergencies.  I'm not gonna lie, just a few bad choices, insurance not what I think I have (I still don't know, but I have something) or just bad luck and hundreds of thousands of baht disappears I'm sure.  Knock on wood, I won't be out the woods until next year.  But my visa is a year and I just got it, so I won't be this guy.......

but I do think hitting rock bottom is possible.  especially if you drink a lot.

i think his home country is only better if he can get free food, welfare, whatever.....it would be much harder if your home country was cold.  but homeless in rainy season must get old, fast.  if I had to pick being homeless in America or Thailand......Thailand.   teach English online, rent cash at a place that won't report you, save up the 20k fine, and who knows...scary thoughts.
