Last time the NG was deployed in LA was 1992 for this type of activity.  Of course a small number was activated for traffic control during the Palisades fire.  

It can be done, for sure, but I wonder if it's a good idea, all things considered? 

 

ANTIFA and its backers have been trying to start a civil war in the USA for years. That's their dream scenario.  Remember the pallets of bricks that were placed in strategic locations during the Minneapolis riots?  And Minneapolis wasn't the only city where piles of bricks have been ordered and delivered. Didn't that happen on January 6th, in DC?  A common tactic, it seems.  If I had to guess, I'd say someone has now ordered bricks for LA.  

 

LA probably isn't the place for a conflict. I'm not sure what the current makeup of the city is, but my guess is that the people there could cause a lot of trouble. How many illegals live in LA proper?  Hundreds of thousands.  And most of them are probably young men.  

 

If anyone remembers the riots in South Central LA in 1992, following the Rodney King incident, you'll remember that the riots continued for days and destroyed much of that area of the city. And today, years later, the situation in LA has deteriorated. Many blacks have moved out the area for various reasons, and the number of illegals bas increased significantly.  In other words, big trouble could be looming.  

 

Could the military restore order?  Sure. But at what cost?

That may well, happen, although it might escalate. Remember the riots at the 1968 Democratic Convention organized by the Weather Underground? Or Mayor Daley and his "shoot to kill" order for arsonists or whatever following the assassination of Martin Luther King?  The beatings in the Chicago Loop were televised. Cops with billy clubs hitting kids over the head.  "The whole world is watching."  The cops got that under control, but this thing in LA is bigger.  Hundreds of thousands of potential combatants.

Back then it was all about stopping the war in Vietnam. The anti-war movement was huge on college campuses.   And the issues boiled over in the streets of Chicago during the Democratic National Convention. Between the Yippies and the Weather Underground, the craziness was real. And it felt dangerous. Anyway, millions were allowed across the US southern border by the Biden administration in an apparent effort to create a voting block so huge that the US would never again have another Republican president. And today, the same anti-Trump mentality is at work. Deporting all of them would foil the plan. How bad do they want to stop Trump? Pretty bad. I can understand why some may think that way. People who have no skin in the game, so to speak, in America.  If they don't receive or possess US dollar denominated assets, then they think the destruction of America won't affect them. And because they're probably losers in real life, they have to blame someone, anyone, other than themselves. And so they pick America. It's America's fault.

 

Of course, anyone from America receiving US dollars or with US dollar assets will have a rude awakening if their dreams of America's destruction ever come true. They'll receive no more pension, no more Social Security, no more interest on US government bonds. The world banking system will collapse.  And they had better hope they have some real assets.  Gold or silver, for example.

You could be right. I think it's a good idea, though. Sort of like the exploding dye packs they place on some of the money tellers keep in their tills.

I think Sec Def needs to look up Posse Comitatus Act first.  However when I was working the 1992  riots rumore were rampant that the Army would be deployed to assist because the CA Army National Guard at that was useless.  The Army was never deployed.  Most of us in LE worked 15+ days straight on 12 hour shifts.

Tested extensively in the early 2000s; limited deployment in places like Afghanistan (2010) but withdrawn due to logistical and ethical concerns!
