The most famous people in Thailand

Featured Replies

When I read this morning about the wealthy owners of Nescafé in Thailand it came to my mind who I would call a famous person in Thailand?

Is it about wealth, or science, or influence, or honesty, or art, or privileged, or ?

What do you think?

On my personal list is beside Bhumibol also Thaksin?, Chaleo and Apitchapong.

Who do you prefer?

Tuk Tuk

Or TikTok?

There is Seek Loso of course who was super popular early 2000 when I first started traveling to Thailand, and still is. Bird,

A few  Thai boxers Buakaw, Saenchai, Rodtang,  Stamp and Supergirl.

Emma was the hottest Lady Boy in Pattaya and together with a sweede back then 😁 I did not have a LB on my bucket list, but she maybe could have tricked me once.

So that a "sports" one. 👍

Do you think they will be famous over decades?

If I think of Chaleo...he is and will be famous over many decades. He invented Red Bull

Hmmh, you remember "Sugar Ray Robinson"? Or Muhammad Ali?

If yes, this was decades ago, do you think someone would remember Seek Loso in America in 30 years from now?

That’s a bit unfair, but Thai, and everyone who is in to Maui Thai will

Do Asians remember Ali and Forman? Tyson, yes, but he also will be forgotten in Asia

Edit note Sugar Ray is not remembered by ordinary people, only if you where in to boxing or alive back then

Thai will, he is an convicted dope head bipolar rock star. But he failed to Die, so who knows. He still makes history, buying his fellow inmates goodies and making new music.

So you are saying people alive during Sugar Ray Leonard's career were not ordinary?

I was by no means a boxing fan, I certainly remember him.

I'm trying to follow the treadstarter

Who will still be famous decades after their death. Sugar Ray will be remembered by those who is interested in boxing, while Ali was bigger than life. Forman as well, but still, Ali is the one who goes in to the history books for more than boxing

Not a big fan of fighting.

Does Thailand have any other sports besides boxing?

Any ping pong superstars? Now that's a sport , man. You gotta have quick reflexes.

Badminton quite high level, power lifting, handball but not really high ranked, a few female high ranked golf players at least I know of

Maybe a bit off topic but a true story.

It was almost 20 years ago that i talked to a very good friend of mine here.

She was doing a lot in real estate and one day some older guy (she said) came to her shop and asked

information about a property.

She took him there and showed the property and after they went back to her shop.

She asked for his number but he did not want to give it, she thought that was kind of strange.

She did however show me the security clip from her shop,

it was ,,,,Mick Jagger!

Talk about famous! He must have enjoyed not being recognized.

Famous or infamous,no one seems to have seen Thaksin for awhile, did he split?

Thailand's national team has some personalities;

Chanathip Songkrasin,  team captain & midfielder. Outgoing personality.

James Beresford , defender. Nice guy

Ben Davis, midfielder. Women go nuts over him.

My friends get very excited when they play, until they lose, and then they are not interested,
