If I book a return flight from Bangkok to the UK for say two weeks, can I go to a travel agency, change my return flight to an earlier one if I wanted to.

Or am I better just getting a single flight then booking a flight back to Bangkok when my business is finished.

No simple answer possible.

Really depends on class you book/pay.

One way flights are usually more expensive than return.

 Changes on cheap tickets either expensive or completely impossible.

There are so many booking/fare classes.

 

Two weeks? Endure UK until your flight is due.

What's a Travel Agency these days. Do it online directly with the airline.

I know, but as I asked, what is the best or should I say the cheapest way to do this. If Thailand had travel agencies like in the UK that would solve the problem.

If you don't get a refundable ticket, many airlines will give you a monetary credit for a future flight if you cancel.

Or, many of the Asian airlines will pay a you a refund for a fee if you cancel.

I would not go to an agent.

That has probably answered my question. I will try online to see if I can get a return flight with a return for a date after my business is finished, which could be one week or one month.

When you book your ticket on an airline website the cost of changes, if possible, is made clear.  You will pay a fixed fee and also pay the difference in flight cost if the fare you paid is not available on the selected flight.

I don't really want to cancel anything, just change my flight for the return for when I finish my business.

No cheap way if you make changes. Best to work out your dates first then book return flight.

As others have said, book direct with the airline's website.  Be sure to choose a fare type that is changeable.  There will probably be a significant fee for the change.  Better to make your best guess at the probable return date and hope you don't need to change it.  

 

There is no reason to ever go to a travel agency anymore.

Say my business is finished in two days and I had a return for two weeks, that is going to cost a lot in hotel bills.

It would really suit me if my business is finished early and I could go to a travel agency and change my return flight, of course it will cost, I am just trying to find the most convenient way to do this.

Nobody here can give you a clear answer, it depends on many factors and different airlines have different policies, on everything.

Book direct with the airline.  Then if you want to change your flight CALL them or potentially change the flight throught their website (manage my booking) .  No travel agent needed.

But it's close to impossible to talk to AirAsia by phone or by email.

 

Only possibility would be to scan their options and see if it's possible to pay a 'change date of return' fee in advance.

Buy the cheapest changeable ticket.

 

There are three types

1 changeable with a fee, non refundable

2 fully changeable no fee but more expensive, non refundable

3 fully changeable and refundable most expensive

Also only book directly with airline website. For US I pay $100. fee plus difference in ticket if any. Do not book with second party as changing dates will be traumatic.

From that, one could check options (airlines and fares).

If you say 2 days to one month flexibility that will cost. So or so. Forget travel agencies (which still exist in Thailand).

What absolute rubbish. None of AirAsia, NOK  Air or Vietjet go to UK,

Thai International, BA and Eva go direct to London,  the others, as you say, stop off half way.
