Living areas 27, when I use them.

 

Our bedroom 25.

 

When guests/family come and stay they set the air in their bedroom anywhere from 18-22.  I'm guessing they don't set it that low when they are the ones paying for it.

 

25 when we need to turn it on.  Having AAC bricks in the house plus insulation bats means we rarely need to turn the air con on at all. Maybe for 1 hour before hitting the sack in the warmer weather.  Even when we travel and stay in hotels, 25

The answer is simple, because their room never reaches that temperature when the outside temperature is like 35°C

 

Keep in mind, when it's 20°C outside in December, you will need a warm coat to ride your motorbike, or even sit at an open beerbar.

20c at my home in the Colorado Rockies means it is summer time…

Locally,  I prefer a cool room as I sleep better (22-24c) and it helps lower the interior humidity, thus reducing mildew, clothes staying fresh longer and more.

26 or 27 in living area.  25 at night in bedroom.  Agree with Wanderer555 - reduces humidity for sleeping at night.

No air con anywhere else, prefer windows and doors open all day.

Air conditioners have a dehumidifier function, which usually lowers the perceived temperature. I use this in the bedroom every day two hours before going to bed. Afterward, another hour of cooling at 25°C is sufficient. That´s it.

Living on floor 47 and right on the sea, only needed about 15 days per year

(when the trades stop) and in one room only:

thus there are about 7 built-in ACs never used! 

Only use AC for sleeping 24.5

I've been around some family like that.  If I was sleeping in that environment, there wouldn't be enough blankets in the room to keep me warm.  Thanks for sharing that, transam.  I gave me a good chuckle when I read it.

Because when it's 40+ outside in the sun, 29 and with fans running feels just right.

I have a new TCL 18,000 btu in the bedroom,  if i put it on Auto setting at 27 the temperature comes down to 28.

If i put it in Cool setting at 27 the temperature comes down to 25.

Not sure which setting i am supposed to use ,  Auto or Cool to achieve a temperature of 27.

 

26 for 1 hour before sleep, then fan for the rest of the night. rarelly need any more. Sitting/Diningroom big fan only. But Grandson and Granddaughter set 20 and then wrap themselved in the duvet all night.

I use fans in the living room and the bedroom and only use the AC on the dehumidify setting (not the cooling setting) very occasionally in the lounge, but never in the bedroom. 
When it is on, I have it set to 29C and only turn it on if the temp in my condo goes over 32C.  

Right now it's 29.4C @76% humidity and feels nice and cool (no fans or AC at the moment).

Yes and using that setting uses about 20-30% less electricity.

Simple, as an Aussie, you put it at a temperature where you are comfortable.
