Has anybody gotten their Non-O retirement visa from Chicago consular office based on their SS (Government pension). I am asking for three month Non-O visa. Not the yearly extension that is obtained in side Thailand. I let me extension expire last July and I won't be able to enter Thailand before October. Wondering if I could get my Non-O retirement visa based on SS (government pension). If not, can I get one showing 800K in my US bank for the three month Non-O visa that is used to extend one year inside Thailand. I repeat again, asking for three month Non-O visa using either SS letter or 800K in the US bank from Chicago US consular office. Not Looking for one year extension and the detailed process about how to get it.

I sold my Jomtian condo last year and came to the US after I got tired of living in Thailand on retirement extensions for 15 years. Now I am bored again in the US. Planning to go to Thailand and live there at least a few more years.

OP, your situation is clear.

You need to deposit 800k (equivalent) into bank account and obtain a Non O retirement eVisa in the states.

When you enter Thailand you will be stamped in for 90 days.

In the last 30 days with the funds having been in the bank for min 2 months you can obtain 12 month extension.

To change to income method (in the future) you would need to overlap both methods for one year.

Then when you can show 12 months of transfees from abroad (65k min per month) then you could change to income method.

As you can see it's NOT 800k baht OR 65k baht a month, it's 30K USD banked OR 2500USD monthly income

Thanks. It is even better. 30K in my savings account will be enough.

Probably won't get you an extension in Thailand though without 800k in a Thai bank...

Indeed.

For the 12 month extension the 800k will need to be in Thai bank for 2 months prior to application.

I'm not concerned about that right now. If I'm bored in Thailand again, I will go back to the US or else seek the help of an agent. My concern right now is getting the Non-O from the US.

Simple eVisa application and as you point out the financial requirement is not an issue.

Please post back report with process time etc after approval.

Exactly same eVisa Non O retirement in AU recently 3 days.

So quick process.

Is this consistent across all Thai eVisa 'sources' in the U.S.?

Does the $30K USD have to be on deposit for some minimum time period?

Does the $2,500 USD income have to be shown for some minimum number of months?

Embassy (Washington) mentions 3 months,

"Recent bank statement for the last three months showing the applicant's name and ending balance of no less than $30,000 or proof of monthly income of not less than $2,500/month) along with the current bank statement showing incoming income"

How does one show proof of income. Is it ACH deposit to an account (e.g. from Social Security or a pension fund). I get $3400 ACH deposit every other Friday to my Ally Savings account from my 401(K) held at Fidelity. I also have $30,000 deposit in my Welathfront savings account. I will use the 30K savings account to avoid confusion. I am still debating if I apply form my Social Security this year or wait one more year.

Do you get a 1099 from SSA?  For the 401K can you get an annual stattement that summarizes the monthly deposits.  For my past O/A Visa application i have been able to obtain a letter from the agency that issues the payments.  This type of letter has been accepted by the LA Thai Consulate.

You will not be able to use income method in first year for 12 month extension.

You would need to show 12 + monthly transfers of 65k (min)

Regarding the timing, normally the processing of a Non O application takes a few days, a couple of weeks max. The eVisa has to be used within 90 days. If you get it mid-July, it will expire mid-October.

If you're planning on entering Thailand in October, you might consider waiting with your Non O application until August or even September.
