Where are the Tea bags gone ?

Featured Replies

Doi Chang Coffee shops offer loose tea, green or black. With all of the Chinese it must be available. Do they make tea capsules for the fancy coffee machines? FYI, Lazada offered 3000 options for tea bags.

Have you tried Pattaya? I hear there is a lot of tea bagging going on there.

I bought 3 loose tea brands to try  250g packets from lazada

only sampled  two cups of each tea  but so far my score would be

1  Wagh Bakri  premium leaf  115 baht   nice strong brew

2 Tata gold  110 baht    a bit flowery but still good and strong

3 Brooke Bond Red Label  99 baht  close to Typhoo one cup

Shop in the above link shipped fast and the tea has recent packaging dates.

I also got some  7x9 cm bags from this shop who also shipped even faster.

Long time since I knowingly had PG Tips but I used to always have Typhoo and I changed to Taylors Yorkshire as I think it is stronger and I could get at least 2 decent strength cups out of 1 bag.........(I drink a lot more tea than the average)

Yeh, but you are drinking a lot more WEAK tea using the bags twice.

I have some Yorkshire gold,  one bag in a pot gets  2 big  mugs of strong tea..I do let it stew for at least 20 minutes  with tea cozy on the pot.

Typhoo one cup  when they are available takes 2 bags to get a slightly weaker brew in the same pot.

I believe Typhoo  were taken over ,still in business  but do seem to have disappeared from most (all ? )of the shops in Pattaya...still available online but at 2x price.

Yuk. You obviously do not appreciate a good cup of tea. One Yorkshire bag in a mug for 5 minutes, for me, is perfect, none of this cheap skate 2 for 1.

I have loose Yorkshire tea leaves, two teaspoons in my 2 cup sized teapot is also great.

I appreciate a good strong mug of "builders" tea  especially after an English breakfast fry up.

Worst ever tea is that disgustingly weak Liptons  that the Thais like to try and pass off  as tea at restaurants and hotels..thats yucky.

How can you get a 'good strong mug' of builder's tea using an already used bag. The first brew should extract all the tea-ness out of it.

Liptons should be banned from the World, or sent to Russia.

Before bed, a cup of Camomile tea with a tablespoon of home made Cannabis oil is perfect for a good night's kip.

I said that I can get 2 mugs of tea  from a single teabag when brewed in a pot    1 pot 1 bag = 2 mugs of tea...after that I dispose of the tea bag  not reused as there is not much  life left in it...though I suppose if you saved  4 or 5 bags  they might make another weak cuppa.

There was a running joke that the Scouser at work  dried out the tea bags and used them over and over again 😝

Many years ago I had a cousin that was married to a guy in the garment industry. They holidayed in Sri Lanka it was a work and vacation thing..

Americans are not big tea drinkers but she did notice upon visiting a factory that packaged for Lipton that it was not only the worst tea that went into the bags but it was the worst part of the tea leaves. Basically, the trash

Spot on! it’s called dust, the stuff they pack and sell at tea auctions for companies like that. You can get some amazing tea, real BOP, even silver tips, if you know the estate owners.

Asking for a friend ... must be a complicated process?

Been drinking Yorkshire Tea (bags) for yonks, always good.

Ordered the draw string ones last month. Tasteless. No comparison to the full size bags.

Ordered the Gold draw string, marginally better. Just does not taste anywhere near the same as the normal size bags.

Got 100 of the blighters to get through though.

Just as good as Typhoo, 190bht delivered.

Yes I bought 250g  from the same store..I would say the taste is better than Typhoo one cups and on par with (perhaps even better)  Yorkshire gold  but obliviously a different taste.

That's one month at my rate of 3 cups a day.

It looks like genuine Indian tea. Will give it a go at that price. Thanks.

Might get me through a fortnight, if I took it steady, was lucky enough to get 400 UK Tetley tea bags off Lazada a month ago, but on back order now, sadly I'm a Tetley tea man, even after 40 years in Yorkshire.

Obviously an  autocorrect   mishap   and obviously I may be slightly "dyslexic"  for not spotting it ?   where /were  still gets me every time.

Yes, I was similarly disappointed with my one-time purchase of Yorkshire Gold on a recent foray back home. The only ones I bring back now are rNambarrie, Yorkshire reguylar and Tetley's Extra Strong.

Last foray I was surprised that the smallest packaging for Yorkshire available on the shelf at Lidl and Safeway was something like 240 bags? Cheap but way too many for my needs.

They really get through the stuff in the UK, you are offered a tea on entry to any home and then on the hour, every hour!

Best teabag tea I've found locally is Madura, an Oz brand that you can get in Villa / Foodland online for around THB 130-150 for 25 bags. Their Assam is good. THB 129 online I see.

Mind you, teabags are usually never as tasty as leaf. My preference is Orange Pekoe which I mix with some Darjeeling - an odd mix but I like it. Those THB 50 Japanese shops like Daiso all sell packets of tea bags dirt cheap although mostly now they don't have unbleached paper ones.

(Note to self: I should get out more).
