When I found this today I got the impression we're going downwards towards Armageddon.

We are told to have more arms because China and Russia might attempt to attack us.

But if you add the expensive of the "West" we spend more than 20 times(?) more than the two.

The theory behind increased defence expenditure is strange in that usually a country spends the money in the hope that it never has to use it. It is a deterrent, with nuclear arms being the classic example.
