They don’t want to pay too much, and they don’t want to pay too little and embarrass the bride in front of the whole village on the big day.

 

Negotiations with the parents can be tense for the novice.

What is your girl worth?

 

A little funny but there isn't an official calculator. It's mostly about them and their previous partners, marriages and children. Also how greedy the in laws are.

 

I wouldn't put a price on a woman, as some are priceless, and some are worthless, with the rest somewhere in between.

 

Most women I've left were very good women, and some weren't worth the time I wasted with them. Can't tell if staying with any of them would have been right, as time spent together is the only way you'll know. People change frequently up until about 30 years old, and by then their character is ingrained, meaning any changes are harder to make. The women I've had children weren't worth much as a partner, but the children that were made are worth the crap I went through.

Let's be honest, for most, its what the girl and her family think they can get away with, relying on the foreigners romantic notions and stories of "tradition".

But the neighborhood 7-11 girl with a kid and sightly tanned skin would be zero?

We met while doing Phd's in Washington State. Married not long after graduation, by which time she was employed by a large MNC with operations in Thailand and The States. Sinsod wasn't mentioned before, during, or after marriage by anybody. Other than by people on a Thai based forum I was a member of at the time, when we were researching about registering the marriage in Thailand too.

600,000 plus age gap adjustments, farang surcharge etc.

 

A used rental car with a few dents is pretty much given away.

If I had 250,000 budget I would probably just get an uneducated, dark skinned virgin with large breasts.

I paid, 100,000bht to pay off a loan on the family farm near Petchabun.

Five rai of sticky rice paddy, plus a separate 0.5 rai land with family home/shack.

But on the condition the farm was immediately handed over to my misses, for our son to inherit.

 

Chanote was handed over and put in the misses name 15 years back.

My wife’s father was Chinese and her mother was Chinese-Thai. When we met and married, in 2002, she was 48 and I was 57. She was divorced and had a lovely 17 year old daughter at university. All he parent’s children were university educated.

 

The village wedding, and we count that as our wedding date and not the one at the Amphur, was at her family house.

 

I gave her brother 70,000 baht, he went to the bank and exchange it for new notes. We showed that money plus a gold necklace, bracelet, engagement ring and wedding ring etc. After the wedding everything came back to us.

 

We bought a house here in 2005 and I paid about 80% of the cost. We lived in the UK from 2002 until when we retired out here in 2007.  Yes, financially I pay everything now but it allows us to be free to do whatever we want.  

 

I’ve actually been retired about twenty years.  We are together basically 24/7 although she has a few days away with friends from the past once a year and meets them every month or so. I go sometimes, but ex-schoolteachers by definition are noisy. Also goes to see her grandchildren most weeks, I go sometimes ....

 

So, I have an Aging Asian Babe, 43.5Kgs, 163cm and doesn’t look her age. We do get through a fair amount of money but what the hell, I am happy with my lot and hope to enjoy this life somewhat longer. She has a lower golf handicap than me  #### !!!!! She is basically only light brown but hours on the golf course has fixed that.....

I'm guessing if you ever do get married, then we'll all see. Uneducated would be a good choice.

I don't need a calculator to understand what I got. A daughter. The mother wasn't a good partner, but we produced a beautiful, smart girl who will do as well as my others, once she's out of here. She wasn't previously married.

No, it gives them a better life, more independence, and less likely to need a man , a want being a better choice, so she doesn't end up with players.

My daughter is priceless. She'll be taught what a good man is, and hopefully she ends up with one. Putting a price on women shows what you see them as.

Her first role model, me. A dowry was also a western thing, until if fell by the wayside with more independent women.
