Sad reflection on Thai society in tourist areas really. In other countries (Western countries, Singapore, Japan etc) people would automatically think we were family out together. In Thailands sleaze ridden tourist areas the obvious connection is to child sexual exploitation. 
 

Thailand really doesn’t seem to grasp that its casual attitude to sex tourism, leads to a path of sexually perverted tourism.

It's the Americans who are getting their knickers in a twist because in the states it's so much older even 18 to 21.

In the UK it's 16 and in France it's just been (in the last 10 years), raised to 15 from 11.

Go figure.

An anomaly in the Epstein case, a girl (young woman) was of-age in the UK (17), but not in America, where 18 is the minimum age.

What you mention happens mostly among Thai people and that is not the issue here.

In order for a foreigner to hook up legally with a 15 year old in Thailand they would have to be insane.

Any US citizen would be breaking the law if they do so.

 

We should be more specific here, not all foreigners would have those problems. I guess you are American. The age of consent in most US states is 16 but you probably refer to the PROTECT Act that makes it illegal for US citizens to have sex with under 18 olds abroad? I never understood that logic. In any case, was there ever an extradition when the case was deemed legal in Thailand?

 

In all my years here I have met several Thai adults who told me that their first boyfriend was an older foreigner when they themselves were not 18 yet. I don't know of their nationalities . There was even a Japanese who, although decades ago, must have managed to marry a 15 year old and brought her to Japan, as her sister told me.
