In a dramatic pre-dawn raid in Phuket, local authorities arrested a suspected drug dealer clad only in his boxers, uncovering a considerable stash of over 3,500 methamphetamine pills hidden in his home.

 

The operation unfolded in the early hours of yesterday morning in Thepkrasattri, within Phuket’s Thalang district. This arrest is a significant stride in the island’s intensified anti-drugs campaign, aiming to curb illegal activities through robust enforcement and community vigilance.

 

A coordinated team, consisting of provincial officers, security personnel, and anti-narcotics volunteers, was led by Chaiporn Yangchin of the Narcotics Control Board. They descended upon a residence in Moo 4 at precisely 2:06am, executing the raid with precision.

 

The suspect, referred to only as “Mr A,” was apprehended at the scene. Inside his residence, authorities discovered 3,592 methamphetamine tablets, commonly known in Thailand as Yaba, meaning “crazy medicine.”

 

Charged with possession of a Category 1 narcotic with the intent to sell and unauthorised drug use, Mr A is now facing significant legal repercussions. Law enforcement officials suspect that he might be linked to a broader drug network operating within the region.

 

Following the arrest, Mr A and the seized drugs were taken to Thalang Police Station for further legal processing. The swift and effective operation reflects the determination of local law enforcement to dismantle drug-related activities across the island.

 

This crackdown forms a crucial part of the ongoing White Interior campaign in Phuket, which strives to establish drug-free environments through strategic policing and heightened community surveillance.
