A two-year-old girl has died and several others were injured after a motorbike rider carrying five people, lost control while descending a steep hill in Thalang district, Phuket.

The crash occurred in Soi beside the Je-Hong Crispy Pork restaurant in Moo 2, Sri Sunthorn subdistrict. Police and rescue services were alerted shortly before 15:00 on 23 July. Pol. Lt. Col. Sumet Jitphet, Deputy Inspector of Thalang Police Station, responded to the scene alongside rescue teams from the Sri Sunthorn Municipality and Kusoldharm Foundation, as well as an ambulance from Thalang Hospital.

At the scene, responders found a pink-and-white Honda Scoopy motorbike lying damaged at the roadside. Nearby, the 41-year-old driver, identified as Mr. Phanom, was discovered with lacerations to his chest and multiple abrasions. He had been carrying four passengers on the motorbike.

Two women, named as Ms. Premrudee and Ms. Yaowalak, sustained injuries in the crash.  two-year-old girl, referred to only as “Miss A” for privacy, succumbed to her injuries.

Preliminary investigations suggest the motorbike rider lost control while speeding down the steep and damaged road, ultimately crashing into roadside rocks. The impact caused severe injuries to all five individuals and proved fatal for the young child. All injured parties were transported to Thalang Hospital for treatment.

Police are continuing to gather evidence and eyewitness testimony as part of their investigation. Legal proceedings against the motorbike rider are expected, pending the outcome of the investigation.
