Almost makes it worth the tax money we Americans paid for him to "visit his golf course", eh?

Perhaps the US is just tired of propping up the European economies as we did after WW2.  It made sense when Europe was on its knees after the war.  But not today.  It's time for them to put on their big boy pants and pay their fair share for their own defense, and trade fairly.

15 % is disappointing.

EU has agreed to buy a total $750 bn of US energy and increase its investment into the US by $600 bn.

Like that's going to happen.

US energy is more expensive than Russian or mid-Eastern.

Naa just means us Americans get to pay a 15% trump tax over and above our regular tax not to mention we get less for the tax we do pay after the trump big orange tur& of a bill……you go ahead and think it benefits you,I’m not so easily fooled.

It’s the sisseys that need to try and bully others real men (and women) lead by example.

Foolish statement. Currently the US has a trade deficit with the EU and the EU has a surplus, Trump just corrected that, what is it about that you can’t wrap your head around?

Perhaps we need to give it time - and see specifically what the EU (and indeed the UK) does in the end buy from the USA.

The trouble with giving it time of course is that in due course, without doubt, Mr Trump will have a hissy fit about mean and nasty countries (real, imagined or to deflect from some domestic <deleted> storm), lash out and kick over the card table! New or increased tarrifs are his "go to" reaction whenever he has a tantrum!

Anyway, despite that inevitability, you continue to exult about "winning". Don't you have even a nagging little doubt about the inflationary pressures that 15% will build into your economy? And if that 15% tax hike ('cos that is what it is) means that people stop buying European products, well that of course works both ways...

What I wrap my head around is EVERYTHING from the EU has a 15% FEE attached to it guess who’s gonna pay it???why anyone who buys anything from the EU or japan for that matter what’s so hard to understand?for the average American consumer that’s a tax pure and simple.

I can't wrap my head around the psychological  contortions required to make this whole tarriff debacle into a Trump triumph.

We're $36 trillion in debt.  And buying almost a $trillion a year more than we sell.  Maybe cutting back on Marmite and stinky cheese isn't a bad idea.

Why not make your own marmite and stinky cheese?

No need to import.

Grocery prices doubled in the four years under Biden. Where were you at then

Yippee!

I now get to pay 15% more than previously for everything I purchase from an EU member! I have the good fortune to now pay for that $10,000 bottle of '61 Petrus with $11,500. And that midlife crisis Ferrari? Add another $90,000 on top of the original sticker.

What am I going to do with all that money I now won't have? Decisions, decisions!!!!!!

WINNING!

Toss in the WINNING I also get paying 15% more for everything I buy from Japan*, and I feel like the 1962 NY Mets and the 2024 Chicago White Sox.

*The Japan deal is already breaking down, as there are major differences of opinion over what some of the terms mean. The good news is that it buys the current Japanese PM a few more weeks in office, before he has to resign to take responsibility for the election embarrassment.

Secures a trade deal which all the syndrome sufferers say he isn't doing and when he secures a very big one the only thing the suffers can do is be negative. Really is pitiful.

They're rising even faster now. Beef is up 31% in price the last three months.

Only MAGAs can claim a 15% hike in everything they buy from the EU is a great deal.

Hey, MAGAs....PSSSSST....wanna buy a Trump Fighter Pilot NFT? It's a steal at $1 billion.

Glad you didn't go as far back as Lafayette...

I don't know why so many here fall for this "trade deal" BS. It's just a simplification for the masses. In fact there are no tariffs at all for some products and the real deals are yet to be hammered out. It could all change. Some might call it a "high level political agreement". But what happens in reality is something else, as we all know.

If you call it a win, to start with 30% and get half, that´s up to you. Normal intelligence says if one want´s 30% and the other part want´s 0%, then 15% would be like meeting half way. You know, it´s like Man U - Chelsea playing 1-1. It´s a draw. That´s the easiest way I could explain it to you. Let´s hope you understand. 😂

Also, to be able to see the overall results, you must check the historical standings and tariffs. What did EU already have on US, and vice versa? Please check that out and come back with the truth.

The EU has agreed to purchase $750B worth of energy from the US.

Let's remember that European countries came to Canada for energy deals and Canada's Liberal government told them there is no business case and proceeded to re-elected the same buffoons and Mark Carney who wants to carbon tax it all making it uncompetitive.

Surviving Covid the afteraffects and the 23% added to our debt by trump how’s about you?furthermore that inflation was a worldwide problem not just in the USA.

The trade deficit between the USA and ALL other countries is due to the fact that that goods are produced cheaper in other countries than the USA and the USA produced goods are more expensive to buy in other countries. The customers and consumers are the ones that want cheaper goods, and NOT the USA government under Trump who want to tax the US consumers more.

Exactly.

If the EU can sort out the differences with China that deal would bring about a whole new perspective.

The history books will show Trump tarriffs to be one of the greatest obstacles to global unity.
