A Hungarian woman on holiday in Phuket gave birth to a healthy baby boy on Coconut Island, in a dramatic and heartwarming turn of events assisted by local rescue volunteers.

The birth occurred around 21:00 on 4 August, after the Kusoldham Foundation in Phuket received an urgent call reporting that a heavily pregnant foreign woman was experiencing labour pains on Coconut Island, part of the Koh Kaew subdistrict in Mueang Phuket District. Immediate assistance was requested to transport her to the mainland via Laem Hin Pier.

A team of rescue volunteers took approximately 15 minutes by boat to reach the island. Upon arrival, they found the expectant mother, identified as 39-year-old Mrs Ancrea from Hungary, already in advanced labour. Her contractions were frequent, her cervix had begun to dilate and her waters had broken, making it clear that delivery was imminent.

Given the urgency, the team determined there was no time to transport her before the birth. Instead, they assisted her in delivering the baby boy on-site. The newborn was healthy and fully developed and both mother and child were reported to be in good condition.

Following the successful delivery, the rescue team called ahead for an EMS Advanced ambulance to wait at Laem Hin Pier. They then carefully transported the new mother and baby by boat back to the mainland, where they were safely transferred to Bangkok Hospital Phuket for further medical care and observation.
