If it was an attempt to seize control of the 4 "oblasts" that they now wish to incorporate into Russia, why then did they launch a (hideously botched) unsuccessful attempt to seize Kiev?

Back in 2023, The International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Putin in relation to war crimes against the people of Ukraine.

 

I guess there has been a volley of communication through diplomatic channels to safeguard Vlad's protection from arrest once he touches down on American soil.

Compensation is one thing and might be open to discussion, the transfer of ownership and/or control of land is a completely different matter.

I don't think that's for Zelensky to decide anymore. Russia is in control of the Donbass. Unless Putin makes a generous offer, but I think that's unlikely after the way Zelesnky agitated.

I just want Trump to make a deal in our interests, I care naught for Russia and less for Ukraine.
