In a troubling case that has shaken the southern Thai province of Pattani, a male spiritual medium faces accusations of sexually assaulting up to 30 teenage boys. The allegations, brought forward by 13 victims and their families, were officially lodged at the Mueang Pattani Police Station with the assistance of the non-profit organisation, Be One.

The accused, 25-year-old Chondanai, is known locally as a spiritual medium at a well-frequented shrine. Previously respected within the community, he regularly organised events and festivals, often inviting young boys to participate in the preparation and execution of these gatherings.

Reports suggest Chondanai exploited his position to manipulate the boys, who were between the ages of 12 and 15. Under the guise of meditation training, he allegedly gained their trust, advancing to frequent video calls where he tricked them into showing their private parts. Tragically, the manipulation reportedly escalated during trips to other provinces, where he would shower them with gifts before committing acts of sexual assault.

The case came to public attention when the mother of one victim observed behavioural changes in her son. Distressed and concerned, she eventually encouraged him to speak up, leading to the discovery of the abuse. Similarly, another guardian recounted how her nephew was assaulted during a meditation camp stay.

Naphatkamon Sangkaew, assistant to the founder of Be One Foundation, revealed that the number of victims might be as high as 30. She highlighted the community's shock, as many parents had previously held the medium in high regard. Fearing that the case might be overlooked, families turned to Be One for support in ensuring justice is served.

Sangkaew emphasised that the victims are determined to pursue legal action and requested that Chondanai refrain from contacting either the foundation or the victims' families. The community’s trust, once placed in a respected figure, has been irrevocably shattered.

Superintendent Jeffrey Sailamankun of the Mueang Pattani Police Station assured the public that authorities are thoroughly investigating the matter. Police are interviewing victims and will provide necessary protection to all involved. Sailamankun confirmed that once sufficient evidence is gathered, the police will proceed with an arrest warrant for Chondanai.

In the wake of these revelations, the incident has sparked intense discussions about trust and vulnerability within communities. Parents and guardians are urged to remain vigilant and open communication channels with their children.

With more revelations potentially on the horizon, the Pattani community, supported by law enforcement and advocacy groups like Be One, is committed to seeking justice and healing for the young victims. As the case progresses, it continues to serve as a stark reminder of the importance of safeguarding vulnerable individuals from exploitation by those in trusted positions.

A bit like all the disgusting scandals known or not yet exposed within the Catholic Church.

Of course, why wouldn't one hold a con man who avoids working in high regard? After all, he chose to be located at a "well-frequented shrine", and location is everything...

I totally agree, but unfortunately it is part of Thai culture.

When I lived in Lanna, I was invited to attend a ceremony at a popular temple with members of the Thai family. We all had to lie in open coffins "for luck" whilst being blessed by monks. It was bizarre! (stock photo)

What a rubbish reply!

Did you not read my post?

These were ordinary THAI people taking part in a religious ceremony for luck. Perhaps they were Thai scammers?
