Anyone else heard of this with True?

Featured Replies

Went into True today to change my package on Postpaid 5G. I was on 300 minutes and 80gb which I wanted reduced. I had this package as I was away from original home overseeing the build on a new property therefore no home internet until recently. I would have liked just 100 minutes and 20gb. But no! As I am farang I can only reduce to 300 minutes and 60gb. So from 961THB inclusive tax to 747THB.

Obviously cannot change supplier or number as my number is linked to bank etc.

Another example of farang being singled out unfairly. Back in UK, same price regardless of nationality and probably the same for other western countries.

But hey ho, I will just suck it up before anyone else says it. 😎

There shouldnt be any reason why you cant move your number to another network.

Get the AIS annual sim 1800baht a year ! That will give you all you need and save you a fortune in the process.

Yes, I could move to another network but that means a number change. One I have had for 10 years and many things linked to it. A great deal of hassle and running around to notify everybody.
Thanks anyway.

port your True number to an AIS/DTAC/other provider sim.

Thank you. I have never heard of this or know anything about it. Worth looking into.

Where is the link to the 12 month AIS SIM for 1800 baht?

@worrab You don't even need to port your number to another network. You can simply change from TRUE Postpaid to TRUE Prepaid, as long as you don't have any bills outstanding. You don't need to have any package attached to the SIM at all. Merely the cost of making sure that the SIM validity is regularly extended to 12 months in advance.  3 baht per month.

If you do want a package to the TRUE Prepaid SIM, you can easily add one.

For example:

This 12 month package for 2290 baht(approx. 190 baht monthly), offers this as a monthly allowance.

Internet 15Mbps (100GB/30 days)

  • FUP 128Kbps
  • Unlimited free calls to True/DTAC (15 minutes/call)
  • Call other networks 60 minutes/30 days

Let's hope that you haven't already accepted their awful offer and locked yourself into another contract. Better to save yourself 771 baht per month and to gain an extra 20GB of data in the bargain.
