You probably terrified her with false and silly narratives. Irrational hatred has consequences. Poor kid.

Many members of this forum have mixed race families, as responsible parents why would they put their family at risk by taking them on holiday to the U.S. under the current policies of targeting anyone

  • If a transitory drop in foreign tourism is the price for cleaning up the Biden border disaster (and saving the US taxpayers a couple of hundred $$ billion a year), most voters see it as an unfortunate

  • Massive layoffs in Vegas casinos going belly up the tourist obiously + the trump tax is eating up a lot of disposable income.everyone knows the old saying…everything trump touches dies.

I was getting pulled over by CBP 75 miles from the Texas border back in the '80s when I worked in South Texas.

Border patrol has authority to set up checkpoints and stop vehicles within 100 miles of the border.

That's ALL the border, including the wet part.

They have jurisdiction over approximately 75% of the US population.

Because these are considered border cities, federal border and immigration agents assert the power to board public transportation or set up interior checkpoints and stop, interrogate and search children on their way to school, parents on their way to work, and families going to doctor’s appointments or the grocery store — all done without a warrant or reasonable suspicion.

### 🇩🇪 Germany
- **Lucas Sielaff**, a German tourist, was detained for **16 days** after returning to the U.S. from Mexico with his American fiancée. Despite being only 22 days into his 90-day visa waiver, he was accused of violating entry rules and held at the **Otay Mesa Detention Center**.
- **Jessica Brösche**, another German national, was held for **over six weeks**, including **a week in solitary confinement**, after being stopped at the Tijuana crossing. No clear reason was given for her detention.
- Germany has since **updated its travel advisory**, warning citizens that a visa or waiver **does not guarantee entry**.

---

### 🇨🇦 Canada
- A **Canadian woman on a work visa** was detained for **12 days** at the U.S.–Mexico border before being sent home. No formal charges were filed.
- Canadian travelers have reported **increased scrutiny**, especially at land borders, with some facing **full-body searches and confiscation of personal items**.

---

### 🇬🇧 United Kingdom
- A **Welsh backpacker** was detained for **nearly three weeks** at a U.S. immigration facility before being deported. UK officials have since **revised travel guidance**, warning that even minor infractions could lead to detention.

---

### 🧨 Broader Pattern
- These detentions are part of a **broader crackdown** under President Trump’s immigration enforcement push, which has expanded CBP powers and reduced tolerance for perceived violations—even among citizens of allied nations.
- Travelers report being held **without clear explanation**, denied access to legal counsel, and forced to **pay for their own deportation flights**.

More than sad. Off the top of my head there's only one other country on the planet I would consider doing this before visiting and that's North Korea.

Think about that for a moment!!

Not everywhere. In some states. And they tend to be blue states. And the Supreme Court in a recent decision, denied the right to one protective procedure. The vote was 6-3. All the right-wingers voted to deny it.

The point I was making is that it's been that way for decades.  But the MSM didn't mind.  Neither did the Dems.  Until it happens on Trump's watch.  Then, it's suddenly dictatorial.

Right. Because being seized by agents wearing masks with no identifying marks is not at all the kind of things one finds in fascist nations. Nothing to see here.. Move on.

Whilst the legal framework hasn’t changed, the intensity, visibility, and scope of enforcement have escalated dramatically in 2025.

Expanded Enforcement Powers (2025)

•  CBP agents now operate with broader discretion inside the zone, including:

  ◦  Warrantless searches on public transportation (buses, trains)

  ◦  Increased use of mobile biometric scanners

  ◦  Random ID checks at schools, hospitals, and workplaces

Don't ever recall seeing that happen away from the actual border crossings. Only State Troopers.

Along those lines, some 30 years back, a friend of mine was crossing into the US from Canada with his shiny 2 year old pick-up truck (4x4). He was pulled over for a spot search. They (US Customs) took the interior apart looking for drugs. They had a 'zero tolereance' policy and had been stepping up inspections. They found a few marijuana seeds in the ashtray. It was enough for them to confiscate the vehicle permanently as a 'proceed of crime'. They sent him on foot back across the border. He never got the truck back.

Agree. LA, with the exception of the expensive areas where wealthier people live, is just one strip mall after another. Drive down Hollywood Boulevard away from the strip and into 'Thai Town' and it's just a run down strip of Asian grocers.

San Francisco is too expensive, and many people (including me) make the mistake of going there with school age kids during summer vacation time - only to find it very cold in August, socked in with fog, and generally pretty miserable (our bad for not researching that, but you can only travel as a family certain months of the year).

Europe has already experienced this form of democracy.

Extraordinary rendition began under the administration of President Bill Clinton and continued under the administration of President George W. Bush, which abducted hundreds of "illegal combatants" for U.S. detention and transported them to U.S.-controlled sites as part of an extensive interrogation program that included torture.

I took my family a couple weeks ago without any issue.

Just avoid the deep blue hate filled cities.

And your claim that there are "...policies of targeting anyone who ‘looks like’ they might not be a U.S. Citizen..." is just bold-faced lie.

"Suspect" illegally kidnapped by agents wearing masks with no identifying marks and transported to third country for "enhanced interrogation."

And we'll prove his guilt with 187 waterboardings and electrical leads to the testicles.

Gosh, he confessed!

Winning!

Allegations of terrorism are routinely used to justify illegal activity. And those abductions were clearly illegal. But now the word "terrorist" is being redefined to encompass people who may be criminals, but clearly aren't terrorist. Such as the absurd claim that Venezuelan drug dealers were terrorists acting in concert with the Maduro govt. Here is the definition of terrorism:

I would probably pass muster, as a white Caucasian. If I was to dye my skin another color, different story.

Only 10-15% of the world's population is white. Effectively, a racist officialdom in America is saying if you pass yourself of as a tourist, 85-90% of you are going to be put through the mill when you want to enter the USA.

Why would any sane person want to subject themselves to that?

California is 35% white, 40% brown, 15% yellow and 6% black.

And we're to believe that anyone that does not look like a "citizen" is being targeted.

Too funny.

Thailand was rumored to be among the 'third countries' - it was claimed the black site was a former abandoned air base and monitoring station in the northeast (allegedly). The various third-country names leaked out through rumor mills. Not sure if the locations were ever officially published/released.

It was rumoured the monitoring station was the VOA stationary Nong Hai หนองไฮ Ban Dung บ้านดุง 80 km north east of Udon.

Interestingly the 2 lane road suddenly becomes a wide 4 lane road outside the VOA station for a km or so. Just right for landing a plane!

Right, VOA. I'd forgotten that. Not an abandonded airbase.

I never understood the attraction to go to the U.S. as a tourist.  U.S. is very expensive place to visit.

New York is way too crowded and super expensive.  A ticket to Disneyland can run almost $300.  Plus the high cost of hotels and food.

It is way too expensive for nomads or even middle class families now.

Places like San Francisco and L.A. use to be pretty good now, they seem ruined.

I guess the best thing about it is the national parks.

The problem with coming to the US is the size. Our National Parks are bigger than some countries. Also, Im sure tourist numbers will continue to drop as Euros start tightening their belts to pay for their own defense.

ProTip: Wild bison on the side of the road are not friendly.

In the past year I made 5 roundtrips to the USA. Oooo so scary. Please. In NYC the place was packed with tourists. Times Square was bustling every night with tourists.

Just 'splaining what "Land of the Free" means to our foreign members.

Border Patrol has special powers that include conducting warrantless searches of individuals and vehicles at the border, operating within a 100-mile radius of any U.S. boundary, and stopping vehicles at immigration checkpoints without individualized suspicion.

My thoughts exactly. The only round trips he's made are the bi-monthly trips from the Isaan wilderness to the nearest Marco two hours away, where he promptly gets deeply offended when accosting unsuspecting farangs who want nothing to do with him.😂

Tell us how many US Citizens get detained every year in those zones.
