In a significant crackdown on a series of burglaries plaguing Phuket's busy Patong area, local police have apprehended a 28-year-old suspect. Kittipong Boonchuay was arrested on August 26, at a rented property in Patong, following compelling CCTV evidence that allegedly ties him to a string of nighttime thefts.

Police report that the stolen goods are valued at approximately 300,000 baht. The footage revealed Kittipong departing the Patong vicinity on a motorbike, which facilitated his swift escapes. He was eventually located in his rented home on Phoonphol Road, Talat Nuea, thanks to diligent police work and surveillance.

Officers conducting the raid seized several items that strengthened their case: a blue-black Honda Click motorbike, a white full-face helmet, and a selection of clothing, including a black jacket and striped shirts. These possessions matched the descriptions seen in CCTV footage during the various burglaries. Additionally, 6,110 baht in cash was discovered at the scene.

With concrete evidence at hand, Kittipong is facing multiple charges, including theft at night, vehicle-assisted escape, and receiving stolen property. He is currently held at the Patong Police Station, awaiting further legal procedures.

Authorities assert that the compelling CCTV evidence and supporting witness testimonies have built a robust case against Kittipong. Investigators are also exploring the possibility of additional accomplices in the crime series, indicating that further arrests could be forthcoming.

This arrest marks a pivotal moment in the local police's campaign to diminish theft in Phuket’s most frequented tourist destination. Patong has struggled with repeated opportunistic crimes, targeting both locals and tourists. With this arrest, residents in the bustling nightlife hub can breathe a sigh of relief.

Police have encouraged anyone who believes they may have fallen victim to these thefts to step forward, as further victim testimonies could prove invaluable in ongoing investigations.

As Kittipong prepares for his upcoming court appearance, the Patong Police continue to delve into the full scope of his alleged criminal activities. Their efforts reflect their commitment to safeguarding both the community and its visitors, ensuring that Phuket remains a desirable destination for all.
