...and you haven't learnt to read the OP.  Apart from being there he did not involve himself in any way.

Read what I quoted, im only responding to what the article states. You are just making your own assumptions not even going off the article

Read what the OP actually states...

"Lee admitted to striking the Briton, telling officers: “I didn’t like the way he looked at me, so I punched him once".

I'm going off what was actually reported, you're the one making assumptions!

  • Wayne should have known better than to interfere in someone else's dispute. At 81 what did he think he could do?   Mind your own business folks, there's a lot of crazy people out there!

  • Korean d bag tough guy, attacking an old man.  How pathetic.  Send him back.

  • Indeed.  Now all he needs to do is to barfine a woman who then turns out to be a well-endowed man and his week of misery is complete!

The OP clearly stated that he is the same person.

I thought so, didn't have time to read full story.

Thank you.

First, there are NO Koreans living in Udon Thani.

Second, no Korean would kick the shcnit out of someone, esp an old Brit geezer.

Firstly, people from South Korea are Koreans.

Secondly, no one was reported to have "kicked the <deleted> out of anyone".

Nothing racist in my comment.  Why the fatuous accusation?

I suspect Lee is telling the truth.

I live in a condo full of Koreans. They are often speaking loudly, sometimes arguing, usually have heavy tattooing and I am sure many are called Lee. I haven't seen any do any somersaults though.

Koreans with heavy tattoos like their Japanese neighbors are the fringe of Korean society. Most dealt with contraband and dubious activities.

Is this the same Brit, 81yo, Wayne from Udon who had his trike stolen?

It seems this guy is at the wrong place at the wrong time alot

This is very sad and certainly I would think it's not uncommon in somewhere like Pattaya....but Udon Thani !

It makes me sad to think this has happened

He should have known better at 81 years old, go and look for your motorbike would be better,

Shoppers at a wholesale mall in downtown Udon Thani were left stunned when a Korean man attacked an elderly British national, leaving him bloodied in a seemingly unprovoked assault.

Police said the incident occurred at around 16.30 on 6 September, when officers from Mueang Udon Thani station were called to reports of a foreign man attacking another inside the busy shopping centre.

The victim, identified only as Wayne, an 81-year-old British national, was found with blood on his shirt and a cut above his eyebrow. Rescue workers treated him at the scene before he gave a statement to police.

He explained that he had noticed a Korean man speaking loudly to a Grab delivery worker and approached, thinking there might be a dispute. Instead, he was punched in the face.

The suspect, named by police only as Lee, 39, was detained shortly afterwards. Witnesses reported he even performed a somersault off the back of a police pickup truck before being calmed and questioned with the help of a tourist police interpreter.

Lee admitted to striking the Briton, telling officers: “I didn’t like the way he looked at me, so I punched him once. I don’t want anyone interfering in my life. I just wanted to teach him a lesson.”

Police volunteer Kittichich Pongsri said Lee had been living in Thailand for around eight months. He has been charged with assault and disorderly conduct.

The victim, Wayne, was already known to local police, having recently reported the theft of his three-wheeled motorbike from his residence. CCTV footage of that incident, which took place on 2 September, is still under investigation as police search for two suspects.

Authorities said inquiries into Saturday’s assault are ongoing.

Farang rule #1, if you see an altercation never get involved, especially if your an elderly man. You might have good intentions but it’ll never end well.

So what are these Koreans doing in Udon Thani ? A young retired, working ?? I’d be curious to know where all that pent up anger comes from.  Obviously a problem guy.

Many of these Koreans are rather agressive. Those who know the Thermae Bar in Bangkok 😜....know what it's all about and how agressive many can get when it comes to argue and fight with others. Obviouly not all are like that, but quite few.

When I "think there might be a dispute", I don't approach, but do pretty much the opposite. Regardless of age, that's one of the first things you learn in Thailand: don't meddle in other people's affairs that aren't your business.

Like mom use to say “MYOB”.  Mine Your Own Business.

I think me Wayne must be the main character in the movie "Waynes World".

That said he should not interfere in other people if they fighting etc..

Pity they did not show that aggression in the Korean War, leaving the UN Forces  mainly US and UK, to bail them out.

There is a Korean guy who hangs every day, by his arms from equipment attached to his door frame, though. It seems to be part of his exercise routine.

Pity it wasn’t his neck 🤣

So that requires him to be beaten up then! Victim blaming again here!

On two occasions in my life I have shared accommodation with a young Korean man. One was the most mentally disturbed person I have met in my life (and for many years I worked with people with mental health issues)! The other one was not far off, and the three of us sharing an apartment with him had to vote him out!

Maybe the ladies are getting to expensive even for the Koreans in Bangkok, Pattaya, Hua Hin of course or Phuket ?
