Really! Gee your smart. Do you think that Thaksin would flee Thailand to Dubai knowing that he only had permission to go to Singapore only, and invite a reporter on the flight to take photos? 🤪

  • Only one day more and the verdict is out. Though I suspect if he is really returning to Thailand it means he will win the case.

Who do you think is going to freeze his assets world wide ? It’s his own personal fortune, not stolen money.
Secondly, he’s not stupid.

So, it's now almost 1300. Any, y'know, actual sightings?

The question is what will Thaksin gain if he returns to face the consequences? Thai politics made a big shift last Friday and there are those in power now who hold grudges against him and would relish the opportunity to expose his corrupt and fraudulent behaviour to ensure he, and his political party, are finished for good and see him serve some jail time.

You know whilst in Dubai his phone has been red hot trying to call up favors, but does he have enough “friends” to save his ass and his sinking ship?

Why do elderly Thai politicians insist on using black Cherry Blossom boot polish on their hair?

Because, unlike other brands (and them), it doesn't run.

Brilliant.....forgotten about that....555

Thaksin (assuming he is on the plane) is about to land.......so he must have already been told he's going to be cleared of any wrong doing tomorrow.

Maybe he’ll be having dinner with the Red Bull kid oh wait a minute he’s in  London TIT

No necessarily. He might have been told (guaranteed) he'll go down, but only for a month or so, in which case he'll look like a hero to his supporters-

' He came back to face the music, what a guy, a real man' ( pass the sick bag, Alice).

Just how could they do that?

Tony you are facing nearly 13 hours in jail this time run🤔

He just landed in Don Mueang.

So he knows already the court's decision tomorrow. No prison time. He'll be free.

Congrats 🙏

No, he won't

Just picture it now if he does land back here, there will be a huge fan fare welcoming him back, then we know the verdict, put a million baht on it,

ANALYSIS

High-Stakes Court Ruling: Thaksin Faces Possible Prison Return

The Supreme Court is expected to rule on former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra's extended stay at the Police General Hospital. Accusations of faking illness to dodge prison time have heightened scrutiny on whether his royal pardon was based on false claims. Thaksin could face a return to prison if the court deems his pardon petition fraudulent.

A Notorious Hospital Stay Under Fire

Public outcry has surged over Thaksin’s six-month stay on the 14th floor of the hospital. Allegations suggest he avoided a standard jail in favour of a premium ward, exploiting supposed health issues. This controversial benefit came after he was sentenced to eight years for abuse of authority, later reduced to one through a royal pardon.

Legal Minds Weigh In on Thaksin’s Fate

Jade Donavanik, an expert in law, outlines crucial scenarios post-verdict. The decision rests on whether Thaksin’s sentence was adequately enforced. A positive finding would close the case, whereas a negative one could see Thaksin serving a minimum of a year in jail, possibly reinstating the original sentence if fraud is proven, reported the Bangkok Post.

Pardon Petition Under Scrutiny

The core issue remains whether Thaksin’s petition contained false information. Should this be confirmed, the royal pardon may be revoked, reinstating the initial eight-year jail term. This increases the likelihood of harsher repercussions, stripping him of any chance to serve the sentence under lenient conditions.

Implications for Thaksin and Associates

If the court concludes the sentence was improperly served, implicated officials—hospital staff, doctors, and corrections officers—could face charges. Misconduct would be prosecuted under Section 157 of the Criminal Code, addressing dereliction of duty and more, depending on each participant’s role.

Political Ripples Likely

A ruling against Thaksin would not directly shake the political landscape, as per Mr Jade. However, it could impact the Pheu Thai Party, of which Thaksin is a cornerstone. Any image tarnish or internal strife could reverberate through the party, affecting both supporters and strategies.

Slim Odds for Escape

Rangsit University’s political science lecturer, Wanwichit Boonprong, observes slim chances for Thaksin to evade repercussions at the court. The credibility of corrections officers and medical professionals is under question, having failed to support Thaksin's purported health claims.

Verdict Day: Thaksin’s Potential Moves

As the verdict nears, speculation on Thaksin’s return to Thailand intensifies. His recent diversion to Dubai raised eyebrows and suspicion. If Thaksin decides to appear in court for the ruling, it might display readiness to confront potential consequences, possibly swaying public empathy.

The Verdict's Weight

Experts predict an unfavourable ruling for Thaksin could see him back in jail. If found guilty of using false information, legal penalties loom, potentially including imprisonment for involved state officials. The courtroom scene may well paint a portrait of drama and resolution for once-famed Thaksin.

Final Thoughts on the Matter

The decision will address whether Thaksin must continue his curtailed one-year sentence or face a full return to incarceration. The outcome might massively alter perceptions, casting shadows over involved parties and private loyalties within the Pheu Thai Party. The stage is set for a gripping legal showdown.

Dude!  You nailed it!  Exactly.

I was looking at myself in the mirror yesterday sort of admiring that mid-70 year old, fully-grey head and facial hair moment (and even more amazing - still having hair on my head to admire).  Sort of a Terrence Man "Foundation Brother Dusk Look" for those who follow that show.  Really, in Thailand AGE IS A SIGN that commands social respect. "Luang" Just roll with it I say!

So like you said, why go heavy on the Cherry Blossom Boot Polish every morning.  That saves you the Rudy Giuliani "dripping hair-dye embarrassment moments."  Everyone knows that your hair is dyed Cherry Blossom Boot Polish Black.  So why not just say "What the hey," and Go Grey and enjoy the societal respect that that status commands in Thai culture.  Well - UNLESS???  You are trying to look like a Thai politician.  "Gawd!"  Pity you, I'd say.
