From the many postings I read of Georgie boy, I'd say more a brain surgeon or rocket scientist.

Great reply to an absolute nonsense post, and while at it, tell me how a floor mopper who is not yet retired can afford to live in Thailand ? How can he pay for the visa fees? I also lived in Thailand

The floor mopping might be a joke. He might be an accountant, for all we know.    You're just jealous because you had to move back home and some people are still able to enjoy Thailand.

He is definitely downplaying himself as a floor mopper.

I guess that View talay 6 would be a tourist Mecca in high season

I would hate to be a expat here then.

C'mon GG you can have the matronly Russian ladies making you Borcht.

Op, is just one more overflowing dunny. :coffee1:

I never really understood the high season.  It all seems the same year round to me just with more rain low season.

Crowds in places like Pattaya about the same year round.

The high season thing is just a way of getting attention. It's similar to the constant talk about tourist numbers or the moto guy clapping at you on the corner.

Thai's equate noise, chatter and attention with money. The worst thing is to be ignored.

Best to quit the forum for your own sanity.

I often do and it does indeed keep you sane.

Plus another 10-15 minutes to a decent restaurant cluster. So we are talking about 15 minutes each way.

The VT 5's up the street are even worse. There is that expensive grocery store nearby but very few everyday restaurants.

Most of these resort type buildings are like that. They are not made for people walking in and out, but more like an enclosure where a family would stay for a week and not care how far out things are. Everybody sees the cheap room and thinks it's great. Actually living there is a different story (unless you like driving everywhere or eating at the 7-11, or are some eternal optimist who just denies any negative which seems to be common here). You could also take the baht bus each time (at the street) I suppose, but it would get old for me doing that at each meal or carrying groceries on it regularly.

No wonder the rooms are so cheap, your driving everywhere or sacrificing a couple hours a day walking down the long driveway.

Is Arcadia any better? Looks like that same sort of setup to me.

Utter nonsense.  You and GG must be the slowest, laziest walkers in Pattaya.  GG says it takes him 8 minutes to walk from VT2B out to the road.  Is he crawling?  And, how is it taking you 'a couple of hours a day walking down the long driveway' at VT5?   Ludicrous.  Google maps says it should only take 4 minutes from 2B to walk over to Jomtien Complex.  VT5 is even closer.   That whole area of Jomtien has plenty of restaurants.  Plus Kiss is nearby and lots of restaurants on Beach Road and 2nd Road.

The biggest attraction with the VT2s, 5s, and 7 are their great locations.  If you're not the laziest, slowest walkers in Pattaya you can easily walk from any of these projects to Immigration, the fresh market, bowling at the Palm hotel, the Jomtien bus station, the grocery store, bars, haircut shops, massage shops, 7-11, pharmacies, banks, and just about anything else you might need.

Spouse and I have lived at VT5C, 5D, and 7 and what we liked best was not having to use our car all the time, as we could walk to a lot of stuff.  Of course, if you need to go into town, it's just a short walk out to the road to catch a baht bus.  We know a couple, one partner is over 80, and they live at VT2A in the winter.  They don't own a car or motorbike but easily walk about everywhere they need to go, or take a baht bus.

I have lived at those locations and the walk gets tiresome. I was also a mountain biker and avid rower so I'm not in a wheelchair. Anyone renting there needs to show up and walk out and ask themselves if they want to do that every day.

I'm curious as to what you would consider a better location for Jomtien.  We also lived in VT3 but found the 5s and VT7 to have better locations.  We also lived at Lumpini Park Beach in the southern part of Jomtien Beach Road.  We liked the project but there wasn't much right around it in walking distance when we lived there; perhaps there is more now.  And, it was a longer hike into Pattaya since it's fairly far south.   Axis condo we found to be neither here nor there, and also not as good a location as the 5s and 7.

I liked VT Residence 2 because it's low density and near the market and an easy walk to food and the beach.

I opted for central pattaya however, since Jomtein was not enough for me to do an annual lease.

VT7 is a great location for walkers. It's right on the beach. VT 5&2B are to far for walkers in my opinion long term. 2A is Ok.

Map inspections don't really work for these places for some reason. It's looks like they are close, but when you get there the reality of a long boring walk out in the heat seems different somehow. I actually did the google streetview thing when getting airbnb's there and it looked great, but the reality was very different.

The Jomtein Condotel just up the street was difficult. Long walks down beach road for food everyday. Could not wait to get out of there.

I don't see much difference between VT Residence and the VT highrises.  With either choice, some things would be closer and others a bit farther away, but still walkable.  Some, including me, want a seaview, though, which higher floors of the VT highrises offer.   We eventually ended up in Pattaya, too, before our move to the Darkside.

I can't wait to get out of here. Good luck.
