Minor panic broke out among locals and tourists in the morning of 8 September, when a large python was spotted along a pavement near the Pattaya Provincial Court on Thappraya Road, Pattaya.

At around 09:00, the Pattaya Si Kram Radio Centre received a report from a member of the public about the unusually large snake. Emergency officers from Pattaya’s Disaster Prevention Unit were promptly dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, they found motorbike taxi drivers and tourists gathered at a safe distance, filming and observing the python. The reptile was measured at over three metres in length and estimated by responders to weigh around 30 kilograms, appearing to have recently eaten.

The snake attempted to escape through a fence, but its thick body could not fit through. Officers used a loop to secure its head, but the male python fiercely resisted, making the operation challenging due to its size and strength.

Amid the onlookers’ gasps and cheers, the team spent over 30 minutes safely securing the snake in a bag. It will be released back into its natural habitat, away from residential areas.
