The Chaengwattana location of Kasikornthai Bank will close effective the 12th of Sept
and
the closest location will be the one at IT Square Laksi Plaza <- which BTW; doesn't open until 11am. 😮

This is the notice on the K-Bank location on the 1st floor of C/W

Someone on another thread asked about when it was closing and as I was out at Chaengwattana today I checked but sadly couldn't find the thread where they asked 😞

Thanks.

I posted in another thread asking for printed confirmation of closure.

12th Sept close. Bummer.

Wonder how many will be caught out.

So for Kasikorn customers who deal with CW you need to work out options.

Regards the 12 month bank statement (if required) and the bank letter....

These can be obtained few days prior to application day.

CW likes to see update and activity on day of application and that's a pain. IT square is an option.

Can anyone confirm Kasikorn IT Mall Lak Si opens 10am.

Bit off topic: Branch I use Fortune town Pra Ram 9 is also closing.

This is just typical of banks. Not particular to Thailand. $$$$

Branch (Kasikorn)  where I live opens 11am.

IT mall LakSi (Kasikorn) opens at 10am (I believe)

So that pretty much rules out A.M appointments.

Why is it all so difficult. Why is an update even required when you are already providing Bank Letter + Bank Statement albeit day or two old.

Yes it does, Foodland right next to it advertises being open 24 hours. I was there at 10:20 yesterday to do some shopping and the sign was out directing people to the elevators and upstairs.

The signage says that the K bank in IT Square Laksi Plaza opens at 11am, although why they wouldn't open when the mall opens I do not know.

Here's the Chat GPT translation of the Thai language sign that Tod posted in the OP... I caught the same sign on the BKK CW Kasikorn branch door when I was out at BKK CW last week:

I know 2 malls where Kbank does exactly this:

Mall has long been open, Kbank opens at 11.

All they want at CW is an entry on the account for the day of application for the extension; it can be a deposit *or* a withdrawal.

I transfer the fee for the extension into my 800k account a few days before my appointment, withdraw it from the ATM on arrival at CW, update my bank book at the ATM, and walk round the corner to get it photocopied.

I only go into the BBL branch for the letter. Hope they don't close their CW branch!

Futurepark does the same It really does not make a whole lot of difference. the Mall opens at 1030 so it gives people time to get to the bank LOL

That's exactly what I previously did.

Now my next extension is Oct 8.

Kasikorn branch at CW will be closed.

It's difficult for me to just go to another bank.

Immigration process for extensions is not a simple gig for anyone with mobility issues.

Does K Bank issue a statement on demand and, if so, how much does it cost.  Can it be obtained at any K Bank branch or only at the branch where the account was opened?

@brewsterbudgen  B100 and at any branch and done on the spot.  I will be doing mine mid October and will check a few days before if the branch nearest me will do as they did last year.  Things change and as this is not my actual branch I will double check a few days in advance.

Please update your experience in October.

@brewsterbudgen

You require 2 items from bank.

Kasikorn can produce them on the spot.

1. Bank letter Verifies you as owner + balance on day of issue.  100b

2. 12 month bank statement 200b

Both are valid for 7 days. CW accepts these docs obtained prior to day of application.

CW wants to see updated bank book and activity. A small deposit can achieve that.

@DrJack54 CW now request 12 month bank statements in additions to copy of the bank book?  2024 800k they were happy with Bank book copies.

My bank does not have a bank book and in the past (without the appointment) I would not be able to make statement and visit to CW in the same day. I got the bank letter the day before and on the day itself took a small sum from an ATM and attached the slip, which shows the balance, to the paperwork. Always accepted.

Me likewise. In fact, in addition to CW accepting the bank letter being dated the day before my application for extension, they have also accepted my bank book update being made the previous day.

Hope so.

CW has shut Kasikorn at CW and I always did deposit on day of application.

Can't do that now.

Hope someone confirms your experience. Maybe overlooked by immigration.

Yes, I first suspected an oversight, however CW have accepted the previous days SCB update for several years now in my case. I just wonder if they are recognizing the difficulty created for SCB customers by the closing of the SCB branch at CW. It would be interesting to hear from other SCB customers on this.

7 minutes ago, Thingamabob said:

It would as I have been advising SCB customers for a long time that SCB has no branch at CW and they need to update/deposit on day of application.

Hope I'm wrong and it's possible to update day prior as soon I do my extension and Kasikorn has closed at CW.

Mind you how pedantic immigration can be.

Just love to make easy difficult.

@brewsterbudgen maybe report back if bank statements were needed in addition to copies of the bank book when you have done your renewal and mention if you use  800k or 65k monthly.

Depends on what method is used.

For money in bank method just bank book and photocopies of pages should be sufficient provided no months with zero entries or months with consolidated transactions.

For income method provide 12 month bank statement together with bank book.

The bank statement needs to show transfers from abroad

Money in bank method, regular savings account, Bangkok Bank, CW.

Have never been asked for a 12-month statement. I update the bankbook every couple months, making sure to do it two months before the planned extension date. I guess that's good enough to cover for the 12-month statement. And maybe acceptable to immigration as the Bkk Bank bankbook lists every transaction, the updates are not 'consolidated', as reports here describe bankbook updates from other banks.

Get the bank letter the day before the extension, update bankbook on extension day. Have never done any small withdrawal or deposit. That MO has worked every time, what now, 5-6 years since the end of the income affidavit from my embassy.

Have stated before, whatever works for you, just keep doing it. (Until it doesn't, ha.) I might get the 12-month statement this time, keep it in the hip pocket...just in case.

First up what you outline is pretty much spot on.

I don't like this bit.

For years I used a dedicated bank account and never provided 12 month bank statement at CW.

Then bang out of blue... "No you have two months no transactions"

Since then I provide 12 month bank statement 200b .

You can obtain days prior to application.

Do you update the book in branch or in an ATM?

Yeah, that's the crapshoot part of it, the out-of-the-blue 'new' request. Fortunately, so far, knock on wood, it hasn't happened in my extension sessions. But, as I said, thinking to get the 12-monther for next time, just in case.

Just at the 'passbook update' ATM. I'll update the passbook, ('bank book') the day I get the letter, and again the next day prior to doing the extension. So the updates of the book on 'letter day', and  the next day, 'extension day' match the amount on the bank letter.

It's  always been smooth sailing. Again maybe the CW IOs are in the know about passbooks from Bangkok Bank not being 'consolidated' updates?

Thanks.
I asked because I find if you haven't updated for a while, and you're near the end of a passbook page, using the ATM, it will consolidate the transactions (potentially missing some), as it can't automatically turn the page. However, in branch, the teller can complete an update with all transactions for a given period as they can manually turn the page and reinsert the book.

I think that's just a problem with the AI translation.  Google translates it as "Phin Pharmacy, Lak Si Community Housing" which appears to be here:
