A foreign motorcyclist in Phuket became internet-famous after riding against traffic and crashing into a showroom. The incident, captured on CCTV, occurred on September 15 at 5:15 pm along Thepkasattri Road. The rider avoided a head-on collision with another bike but lost control, colliding into an Indian Motorcycle showroom.

The crash caused minor injuries to the rider, who was wearing a helmet, which likely prevented severe head trauma. The accident, shared widely on Facebook by Wasawat Koeithong, ignited online reactions, with both humorous and critical comments. The video generated significant attention, reflecting ongoing concerns about road safety in Phuket.

Phuket has a history of traffic violations, often involving tourists and locals alike, with wrong-way riding being a frequent issue. This incident has renewed discussions on improving road safety and tightening rental bike regulations on the island. Despite no formal police statement yet, officers are anticipated to review the footage.

The rider’s accident, while minor in injury, highlights persistent challenges in managing traffic behavior among tourists. Moving forward, the focus may shift to enhancing road safety measures and stricter rental controls to prevent similar incidents.

What ? A motorcyclist riding against traffic ? Never seen that in Thailand. Only a foreigner can do it. Hopefully thai netizens are outraged !

Please, don't be a Brit.

No. I watched the video.

The idiot didn't hit his (quite empty) head.

He just swerved onto the pavement and then (in panic) accelerated before being stopped at some stairs.

Not much damage.

It's funny slapstick, worth watching
