I assure you insurance companies are fully wide awake. They already know the risks of tourism and regularly deny people's claims on travel insurance. I doubt that any of these guys are smart enough to have insurance on this stuff, I've never heard or read anything to that effect. If we can assume that most of these guys are notorious cheapskates, ironically walking around desperately trying to prove they're rich, I'm guessing they wouldn't want to pay for specific insurance. Additionally, surely insurance companies know about high risk areas such as these, and would likely not insure these guys. But one thing I don't know about - in the US property insurance generally covers many things, it depends on the terms in the contract and the exclusions. One thing that comes to mind is if the loss is due to reckless and risky behavior.

Very unlikely the chain was insured because;

1. Small value of the chain

2. Indians  who visit Pattaya are not in the  high net worth demographic of India. They are not likely to insure personal effects.

3. Even if insured, the deductible would  not make a claim worthwhile.

A 10,000 baht  gold chain is chump change that won't fetch much from a fence. Perhaps 20-40% of its  gold value. probably already melted down.

That's probably what's happening insurance wrought how else could you be that stupid could be gold shops in on this with the LBs, I know gold shops from the past that set up falangs to buy diamond rings for the GF and then the GF said it was stolen and they actually sold it back to the gold shop and boo hooed the BF for a new one

I wonder why men have to wear necklaces anyway.

Is it meant as compensation for something?

Everyone got a gold chain after working in the middle east for a few months, SLR cameras were also a popular spending item. My gold chain got snatched off the back of my neck here by a pretty good motorcycle rider thief who managed to get up behind me at 70 kph. Served me right.

Possible true but they show off  for sure round town with their gold ,better not to wear or show off.Must have being heavy at that price,don,t know if the insurance company will accept the claim  now  as this happens to much

Sorry, that you lost the necklace.

I remember having left my camera on the counter in a hotel in Singapore 40 years ago. On the way to the airport I recognized it. So I  turned rushing back. After 2 hours, when I entered the hotel again, I found the camera at just the same place where I left it.

Either they didn't get the memo about leaving the bling in the hotel safe or this is another insurance scam

The latter.
