It looks to me like they learned an awful lot - just all the wrong things. The Gaza Ghetto looks like the Warsaw Ghetto after the 1943 uprising now.

 

That one can learn something entirely different can be found in Viktor Frankl's books, especially 'Man's Search for Meaning'. He was an Auschwitz survivor and that is his tale and what he made out of it all. I don't think I could possibly have survived what he went through never mind come out of it with his compassion.

 

Israelis should hang their heads in shame for allowing the evil Gaza obscenity - they are as culpable as the Germans were in the Holocaust.

 

And that's the nub: Israel does not equate with Jewish (as your final sentence demonstrates) even if rogue Jews in government (like a PM desperate to avoid jail) are ordering soldiers to carry out the warcrimes and genocide in Gaza. The soldiers themselves, especially senior commanders, should remember that 'following orders' has not been a defence since Nuremberg in 1945. One of the main takeaways from the Holocaust that they seem to have forgotten.

 

As far as the Phuket ban goes, it makes me think the Thai authorities haven't thought this through properly. Jewish New Year is a religious celebration, not a celebration of Israel. And the Thai Friends of Palestine should take a step back and also consider their stance. Are they against Jews - or Israel?

 

Still, I'm glad the decision ain't mine.

Never a good idea to let groups have religious events at public places, especially when current events and issues make certain religious groups targets for trouble and violence. The conflict has more to do with foreign interests than the locals. Russia and now China have always used Middle east conflict to destabilize the west. Iran is Russia's close ally and was a proxy for Russia in Syria and Iraq.

I missed that last new year on the beach while watching the fireworks, where do I queue for such food, it sounds tasty. 🤣

 

It was awful. Fried items soaked in recycled dirty palm oil. The "chicken" had sat out in the heat for hours. Fish had a rancid stench, and of course the unknown origin sausage and fish balls that probably had worms and fungi spores.  And the beer was rarely cold.

When did Patong get a synagogue? They have the Chabad House which is a quasi charity outlet that offers a market for kosher food and a place for prayers and social events.  I walked by there a few times on my way to the German butcher who used to be across the street. He had some very good knockwurst, smoked ham and I could get a decent rye bread. Pity that he  just closed one year. I left around the same time.
