Former Deputy National Police Chief Surachate Hakparn, also known as Big Joke, has filed a lawsuit alleging misconduct by top Thai judges that led to his removal from the police force. The lawsuit, lodged with the Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases, charges Prasitsak Meelarp, President of the Supreme Administrative Court, and Anuwat Taraswang, with interfering in a judicial decision. This legal action could result in a considerable examination of Thailand’s judicial processes.

Surachate's lawsuit claims the alleged interference involved a directive to overturn an initial court ruling that favoured him. He argues that the decision to dismiss him was politically motivated, citing accusations of involvement in online gambling and money laundering, which he denies. Initially, a judicial panel reportedly ruled 3–2 to annul the dismissal order, suggesting a potential return to the police force.

However, Surachate alleges that Anuwat, on Prasitsak's orders, pushed for a Supreme Administrative Court review, leading to a reversal and his ultimate dismissal. Surachate stresses this action violates judicial independence, as judges should oversee cases without influencing confidential rulings. The case draws further attention to tensions between law enforcement and judicial authorities amidst declining public trust.

The court now faces the task of deciding if there's enough evidence for a full investigation. Surachate’s team plans to present an alleged audio recording as evidence, seeking a comprehensive review of the circumstances surrounding his dismissal. This case could have significant implications for Thai legal and institutional practices.

Key Takeaways

  • Former police chief Surachate Hakparn accuses top judges of interference in his dismissal.
  • Allegations include overturning a court ruling that initially favoured Surachate.
  • The court's decision will hinge on presented evidence, including an alleged audio file.

Please link to that so called research!

This guy is one of the great imposter, he was never about cleaning things up, he was always about hogging the limelight, showing disrespect to foreigners, and collecting ridiculous amounts of cash as the next in charge of the Thai RTP.

Nobody can convince me that the guy is not worth tens of millions of dollars. He is just a phony pest.

Next Prime Minister

Almost certainly, at one time, the game plan.

It however came rather unstuck, and I rather suspect many of his backers will have bailed!

As they say, a week , or four months, is a long time in politics.

He has clearly gone nuts.

He should be charged with contempt of court.

I don't know about the Police, but in order to be a commissioned military officer both of your parents must be Thai citizens, so most luk krungs are restricted to being enlisted personnel.

What a corny post, why has he gone nuts and why should he be charged with anything?

I think you're correct, however in real life you can assume they all have a few side hassles and that's no different to most other people - but there's a big difference between a side hassle and major criminal corruption that is not confined to the police force.
