Thailand Faces Frequent Climate Disasters, Experts Warn

Featured Replies

Thailand has got nothing in disasters. Look at the Philippines. A number of major typhoons every year, earthquakes, volcanoes, land slides, flooding after every major rain. Stop complaining Thailand.

Bangkok is probably doomed.

Only hope is a causeway between Sattahip and Cha Am. Remembering to get the subs south before the bay is drained.

So ignorant are those of us who refuse to learn history and the lessons from history, including climate and environmental history.

What climate and environmental history are you suggesting we learn from where sea level variation is concerned ?...

Ice ages, the fossil record, allowance for tectonic movement ?...

Just another lunatic refusing to believe millions of tons of gasses released by burning ancient stores of energy won't have any effect. Utterly ridiculous. Don't want inconvenience so it's not happening.

Sea levels seem pretty constant to me over the past 100 years.

Obviously before photographs, it would be hard to tell.

If you think climate change can be controlled, what do you personally do in an attempt to stop it?

I've converted my home to off-grid solar, and charge my own EV car and EV bike from my solar.

But I'm a lunatic, while you're a hypocrite!

There is little doubt that CO2 in the atmosphere has increased since the onset of the industrial age.

Whether this impacts global temperatures and climatate change, increased sea levels is a an ongoing debate much of which is politicised...  - think Al Gore "we'll be under water"...

But...   there is a lot of truth and lot of middle ground to be understood - this is not a dichotomy of two sides, right and wrong, the issue is far more nuanced...   But geological history paints the following picture:

But... I just don't think killing off our economies and industry is the solution - we have methods of carbon re-capture, we have nuclear...   The renewables and a pipe dream IMO - our energy demands are simply too high.

Of course it’s a cycle we have no control over it.

Why did we find fossilized ferns, palms and other tropical plants in the arctic?

It’s time to legislate the volcanic eruptions in order to control the spew of ashes around the world.

Maybe we should send Greta to tell the Etna, the Ngorongoro and other active volcanoes “How dare you erupt”.

Poor little Greta Thingburg is not going too good at the moment as she is in gaol in Israel with all her unwashed sailor friends.

Climate Change fanaticism has all the hallmarks of a religious cult, but lacks the humility that most religions opine. Humanity has always needed something to worship, be it a celestial body, a deceased deity, or the four elements Mother Nature itself.

In all cases, common sense, observable reality, and empirical science are totally ignored in the pursuit of self-righteousness.

In my dotage I have developed into a lapsed Atheist - not sure about the existence of God, but acknowledging that the idea of a God is probably a pretty good idea.:coffee1:

They did about 30 years ago. Dutch refused brown envelopes so nothing ever happened.

The Dutch would refuse such offerings but they are the experts regarding floods plains

I love pulling this one out...

Provide evidence for your assertions.

I tire of having to do research that most people find difficult, so they fall in line with the doomsdayer segment of the scientific community. Which most media promotes and feeds.

I hope you've heard of Jim Skea, the boss of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (UNIPPC) who suggested people cool it on the alarmism when he first took up the post two years ago. Not easy as too many useful idiots need their fix while the complicit rags fight amongst themselves for the diminishing market in old left wing media. Anyway here's a start... https://www.dw.com/en/climate-change-do-not-overstate-15-degrees-threat/a-66386523

This study, link below, from US Dept of Energy has hundreds of references, and was dismissed by mainstream media because it comes from Trump's DOE. Meanwhile they merrily quote Hamas stuff as if it's factual, never mind.

If you dare, cast your bleary eye over Chapter 6: Extreme Weather which dissects the shrill conventional wisdom with over 50 references, often readily available data which again gets ignored by media... https://www.energy.gov/sites/default/files/2025-07/DOE_Critical_Review_of_Impacts_of_GHG_Emissions_on_the_US_Climate_July_2025.pdf

I don't expect you to have an epiphany, but at least you might get an inkling of why people like me think the Climate Change issue is so screwed up. The world is undergoing climate change, some of it human induced.  But that doesn't mean that everyone, including imminent scientists, who dispute certain assertions, especially as regards alarmism are "deniers" and I suspect the head of UNIPPC would agree.

As for me I am a practising athiest.

ah what, in Pennsylvania is coal fire running since 1962.

Ehhh, what year it is now? ah 2025, so 63 years of CO, CO2 and other gasses, continuously.

What about the 90- ties

Kuwait, Around 5 million barrels (790,000 m3) of oil were lost each day.  By that time(out), however, the fires had burned for approximately ten months,

Paul "Red " Neal Adair and many others did the almost impossible thing, putting them out, about 700 of them.

Heroes, immense respect for them.

Luckily we do still have jokers, thinking a wood bush fire is wonderful. So start one.

BUt ok we just go on.

There is a report by SHELL! in the 80 ties, telling about climate change. We ignored then and was before a Kuwait disaster.

Happily China expands in using coal and a Trump doesnt care about environment.

No, a Trump is telling you all about paracetamol, about UN building in USA and he had ended 7 wars in 7 months.

There is no such a thing as this oxymoron of "climate change", only WEATHER CHANGE... AND IT changes DAILY.

Climate is a trend that is constant over TIME, decades and centuries.

Don't bite the propaganda by the climate scamists, WEF, UN and their ilk.
