Looking at some of the presidents around the world, the alternative isn't much better.

Reading the title, I thought you were referring to Trump. The way he has been behaving, Trump could anoint himself as "The King" of USA.

I don't think he has the votes.

I think William seems like a sound man.  My hope is that he will voluntarily abdicate shortly after being King and allow the UK to peacefully become a republic.

Why should we be a republic ? we have history stretching back over a thousand years.

William will be the first English king since Harold.

How 'English' is William?

What exactly is English?

Celts, Romans, Anglo-Saxons, Vikings, Normans. William's grandmother Elizabeth II. Her family name was changed to Windsor.

A doccumentary to be shown soon shows Prince William opening up on the Monarchy and what changes he will make once he is Crowned king of England. He is young looks at the Country as a local where he can be spotted on the Terraces of Villa Park the home of Aston Villa with his eldest son wearing the clubs coulours and supporting the  team with rest of the fans when villa score. He is filmed in a Pub drinking a pint of Cider, doesn't live in a Palace he lives in a house with his missus and kids. He will not rule with stuffiness like  old monarchs and his missus is fit as well. So looking at our future king and Queen I can see a bright future for our Monarchy under King William.

Why to start again?

It's all said here already for those who can read:

Well wev'e survived for over a thousand years and probably survive another thousand years. If you ever visit London i suggest you visit the Tower of london and visit the Crown jewels which cannot be valued and view King Henry the V111's suit of Armour since 1547 hows that for History Brewster.

You were a republic at one point. Oliver Cromwell made that happen.

As another King Charles found out.

From Mountbatten or in the original Germanic Battenburg.

Likely that they will be sold off as the others were. Did you see the crown where all of the previous gemstone are missing? Sold off to pay debts. Can't remember the Kings name who had to do that. Might have been one of the Charles's.

Not sure if you will survive as the nation you are now in a thousand years. Good chance you will be a nuclear armed Islamic state in 50 years and cease to exist shortly afterwards.

Correct. A good tv show about that. Curious how they have ravens in the Tower when outside they are called crows.

Edit just looked it up. Same family of birds but different.

Same same but different as the wife would say.

Prince William gets his English ancestry from his mother's side.

Some here do need a few queens (drag queens) to get the day started

Sure. Just saying if English people check their ancestry many will find they have English, Irish, Scottish, French, Scandinavian, Italian German etc etc

One word on this post " Jealousy "

Not really, what does the king do? Not being British myself (he or she has no say in the government) He can have a parade and wave a bit, what else?
