British Actor Flies In to Boost Morale at Eastern Thai Border

Featured Replies

Just in case I ever make it onto the news I played roles in 2 Hong Kong movies about 40 years ago. A cop and an army colonel. (Lt. Colonel actually)

Anyhow, I’m hoping this guy’s donation makes life on the frontline a bit more bearable. Good on him.

Actually that is a completely wrong assumption.

I was born and brought up at Poole in Dorset from 1944 until 1960 when I left home at 15 to serve 25 years in the RAF, followed by 7 months working in a satellite ground track station, 4 years with the Home Office, and 10 years with Motorola building mobile phone base stations in the UK and offshore.

You really don’t get it do you?

Yeah, and what have you ever done to help ANYONE AT ALL EVER besides sit in your chair and complain and find fault? Someone does a little bit of good in the world and you have to spit on the gesture. Well, of course you do, people like him make people like you look bad, well you already look bad, you now even look worse having spewed your verbal diarrhea on the event. With your miserable foul attitude you don't belong in Thailand. Please go back where you came from and complain there.

seems like the only one looking bad is you with your hateful reply. Everything i said about it was in sarcasm related to a nobody foreigner actor and how bringing him to the border most likely did nothing to promote anything except a story about it. Thai soldiers and police were jumping for joy at seeing this foreigner come to them with these gifts of good will.

You on the other hand, have no idea what you are talking about. You know nothing about me or any good deeds i may have done. Yet you spew your hate for it easily enough making it personal. I would say i pity you for your grandiose comments that are actually meaningless. But i would not even have that much feeling to show pity for you.

I always find foreigners who get involved in border conflicts outside their homeland ridiculous, its a kind of fishing for compliments.

You mean... Like all those Pro-Palestine protestors ?....  "from the river...(erm.. some river, whatever its called) to the sea"....

Who ?

Hi Joe.

From Google:-

Mark Shelley was born in November 1962 in Keighley, Bradford, West Yorkshire, England, UK. He is an actor, known for The Girl with All the Gifts (2016), Blitz (2011) and The Jacket (2005).

Personally. I have never heard of of him, or seen these films/plays.

On IMDb he ist listed as Additional Crew (Armorer and SFX) not as an actor.

Good for him, and a matter of personal choice.

I am a British retiree in Siem Reap and I have donated cash (US$) to relief agencies supporting the Khmer soldiers and displaced Cambodian civilians along the Northern Border. My patriotic gesture. I now proudly have a Cambodian flag alongside my Union Jack - my choice.

No further comment from me.

Why must I have seen that film?

And no I haven't seen that film.

There are most probably hundreds of films that I have never seen, along with thousands of books I have never read, and millions of people I have never met.

Not to mention the billions of jokes that have soared completely over your head.

Oops...done already.

I carried my lunch to school. Until I finished school, then I carried my lunch to work until I retired. Now I make my own lunch at home.

To be fair, it was ridiculously over hyped. Which causes some micky taking, justifiably so imho

A British actor has traveled to Thailand's eastern border to donate solar panels and supplies to the Border Patrol Police. Mark Shelley, accompanied by his Thai wife, Naphatwarun Sirirattanasap, brought nine solar panel sets, dried food, snacks, and bottled water to officers in Trat province. This gesture aims to boost the morale of police stationed near the Cambodian border, where tensions have been rising.

The donation occurred at Border Patrol Police Company 116, where Police Colonel Siamrath Rattanachanajan expressed gratitude for the support. Shelley, waving the Thai flag, stated, “Thailand, fight, fight!” and shared his honor in contributing meaningfully, contrasting with typical tourist activities like visiting Pattaya. The solar panels will provide much-needed power for communication and electronic equipment for the officers on alert.

The increased readiness among police units comes as tensions have prompted a heightened state of alert along the border. Since the initial disturbance, officers have maintained full deployment to monitor the situation, support military units, and engage with local communities. Colonel Siamrath emphasized the importance of staying informed through official channels while assuring the public that security forces are actively working to maintain peace.

Looking ahead, the Border Patrol Police and military partners continue to focus on safeguarding national sovereignty and protecting residents in the border area. The donated resources will aid officers in sustaining their operations and enhancing communication capabilities, critical for their ongoing vigilance.

Key Takeaways

  • A British actor and his wife donated solar panels to Thai border police.
  • The donation supports officers near the Cambodian border amid rising tensions.
  • Authorities urge the public to stay informed and assured of national security.

My son is an actor in another country and his IMDB history/Biography is easily found.

I’m assuming this Mark Shelley wasn’t successful or no longer in acting, cannot find anything he’s starred in with this name, quite strange

How much power will NINE solar panels produce. Enough to charge their phones I would think judging by their size.

Ah, 20watts each = 180 watts total.

So, quite appropriate for a war zone.  He'll be making the weapons for the next round.

I think he's just doing a Musk. Turning up at some newsworthy event for the publicity. Wait till someone tells him to stick it where the sun don't shine, and it will all kick off.
