Police in Bangkok have dismantled a counterfeit luxury watch operation valued at more than 50 million baht. The raid, carried out on 3 October, resulted in the seizure of 809 fake timepieces and the arrest of three suspects. Officials said the counterfeit watches were of a top grade, designed to closely mimic original brands.

The operation was led by Pol Col Phuwadet Julkasewee, Superintendent of Division 1, Economic Crime Suppression Division (ECSD). Officers targeted three shops inside a well-known market in Samphanthawong district after receiving intelligence about large-scale sales of fake branded watches. Those arrested were identified as Ms Jirat, 45, Mr Chatri, 48 and Mr Manasphan, 53.

The suspects face charges of possession for sale of counterfeit goods bearing another party’s trademark. The seized watches included replicas of Rolex, TAG Heuer, Patek Philippe and several other luxury brands. Authorities confirmed that the goods had been openly marketed both in central Bangkok and through online platforms.

Investigations revealed that the group had been distributing fake watches for several years. The items were sold at 20,000–30,000 baht each, significantly below genuine retail prices, but still lucrative due to consumer demand. Police noted that sales were not limited to local customers, with online transactions continuing alongside market distribution.

Officers explained that the watches were sold as premium-grade counterfeits, which are highly detailed and difficult to distinguish from authentic models. The raid followed weeks of surveillance and was conducted after obtaining a court warrant.

All three suspects admitted to long-term involvement in the trade. Police have now transferred them, along with the seized evidence, to investigators at Division 1 of the ECSD for prosecution. The estimated value of the confiscated goods was placed at more than 50 million baht.
