Professor: Malaysia ‘400 Times More Beautiful’ Than Thailand

Freedom comes and goes, and not long ago, what we criticism other nations for, was also part of our practices and laws. Seems some who where born in those times, already forgot.

Living together and not being married was forbidden by law put to the 70 in some Western countries.

My contention is focussed on racism and extreme religionism in Malaysia. Don't deflect by mentioning other "laws". Argue on point if you want to argue.

There is no question that Malaysia is a very beautiful country with pristine jungles incredible beaches and beautiful islands. For me the issue is that the people are just not as much fun to be around

Isn't Malaysia much cleaner than Thailand ?

Because some have no self awareness and think they can do whatever they want. But it is not suitable everywhere in Thailand where more conservative Thais frequently visits. Some do have an hard time to differ between western holiday places and the rest of Thailand who is not anything compared to Pattaya or Patong. Same goes for their major clients from abroad

If the dress code is against the federal law, then by all means, enforce and take action. But if a lady's short skirt is giving you a boner, you need to be checked properly. Again - focus on my point - extreme religionism policing and racism in Malaysia. Don't drag Thailand into the argument.

You can reflect on it as you want. Just saying understand where you are is essential, and also trying to understand where you come from and the privileges we gained, can easily be removed with a stroke of a pen.

Muslim world is moving to become more liberal, but it happens gradually

Having visited many places in MY over the past 25 years, I wouldn't say they were 400x

The only island i visited was the Parenthians,  it was overpriced, the level of accomodation was dire, the food total dog <deleted>e, the island was kind of rustic, there were no roads, just shuttle ferries, we walked to a village, it took us forever, and we ended up selling a kidney to get a fisherman’s boat to take us back to the hotel.

Why do so many Malaysians visit Thailand every weekend, because the tourist industry in their country has neglected for 20 years, grubby hotels, towns with no restaurants, no nightlife, no appeal. Take a look at the west coast, even city dwellers don’t visit the dry, Islamic states. 400x as boring watching paint dry - double pricing and price gouging is also common in Malaysia.

It could be fairly argued that Malaysia is more beautiful. But people don't only travel to look at scenery.

You seems to have a problem discussion in good manner. So have a good day

How to Start a Discussion

State Your Good Intent: Begin by expressing your respect and desire for a positive outcome.

Example: "I value our relationship and want to ensure we're on the same page".

Share Facts and Your Story:

Facts: Present the specific, observable events or behaviors that you have noticed.

Example: "I've noticed that in the last few meetings, the presentation slides have been difficult to read".

Story: Explain your interpretation or the conclusions you've drawn from these facts.

Example: "Because of this, I'm concerned about how well the information is being conveyed to the audience".

Ask for Perspective: Inquire about the other person's viewpoint to gain a complete understanding and encourage collaboration.

Example: "Am I correct in my thinking, or is there something else going on from your perspective?" or "I'd really like to hear your thoughts on this".

Key Principles for Good Discussion Manners

Be Respectful: Control your own reactions, listen actively, and show consideration for others' feelings.

Listen Actively: Give the other person your full attention by putting away distractions and making eye contact.

Think Before You Speak: Be intentional with your words and avoid speaking about things you don't know or that might offend someone.

Be Open-Minded: Be willing to consider different perspectives and understand that perceptions can differ.

Be Cooperative: Make an effort to be a team player and work towards a mutually beneficial outcome.

Be Responsive: Make sure to respond to communication in a timely manner.

I would like to see the equation used and see if I can an app for my phone to categorise other countries in such a scientific manner. The app can be called My Dad Is Bigger Than Your Dad

The professor needs to be noticed and wants some kind of promotion; I'll never cite P.D. in the list of beautiful Malaysian spots.

Released in 1963 on the album Surfer Girl. Sidewalk Surfing with Jan and Dean was co written by Brian Wilson and released in 65, It was more or less a parody of Catch a Wave.

Thailand is opening up a lot more, oh sorry that's sink holes...

Exactly such comments like yours fit:cheesy:

Why I prefer to spend my vacations in Thailand rather than Malaysia is service... other than pork, booze and pretties. Malaysia service industry has no service... maybe only if you look Caucasian or have local titles like Datuk, etc. And if you go to coastal states like Terengganu and Kelantan ... extreme religious vibes... big turn off. Port Dickson has known to be filthy decades ago. Cameron Highlands is not a place you want to go. It lost its charm around year 2000. Fraser's Hill is the place that mostly stood still in time as there is basically no development, except for the s7upid golf course, due to schedule 1 way traffic if the other road have landslides. Malaysian professors are becoming more like Xiaomi Lei Jun - talk big. Lots of crack down on prostitution which is really bad as more female related crimes will happened. Food wise, Thailand has more authentic food with better taste than Malaysia since Malaysia has been aiming for Less Taste for some time with Less MSG, Less Sugar, Less Salt, Less Fat ... what authentic Malaysian food you taste now is no more authentic compared to the 80s.

True.

Over twenty five years ago we booked and paid for a trip to Singapore, two of us, both blokes, two further weeks in Penang and a few days in Hong Kong, all hotels and tickets pre paid.

Singapore, expensive but good fun, lots to do.

We checked into the hotel in Penang, a long row of hotels on a beach.

We walked up and down the road and check out the area, nothing to do.

We booked a flight the next day and went to Phuket, had a great time, met tourists from all over the world, good fun.

We had to fly back to Malaysia , pick up our suitcases from the hotel room, get the connecting flight onto Hong Kong.

After a few beers on the last night we sat in a bar in Phuket, it was the "Paradise Bar" in Patong overlooking the beach, it was a non-girly bar and sang, "shall we stay or shall we go now, shall we stay or shall we go".

So we blew off the trip back to Malaysia and stayed a few more days in Phuket, bought new tickets to Hong Kong, got there and took the return flight back to the UK the same day.

Hong Kong I had done on a previous trip, that was good fun.

You can keep Malaysia.

I suspect the "professor" has a gf in Malaysia. 400 times? Oddly specific!

( wonder what he says he's a professor of

Also Malaysia has a problem that will impede their ability to ever be a serious holiday choice.

They subscribe to a religion that is unduly repressive and restrictive

Islam has more rules than a reform school. Who wants that on a vacation?

It's unlikely that this will change so their chamber of tourism remains quite hampered

Yet you respond to them?

Making such absolutist statements just shows how depraved and disgusting must be the state of the education over there.

Does he not realize that, if properly educated, true scientists are very much loath to be so self-righteously dogmatic about anything.

Please remind me to NEVER apply to a university down there.

Thank you.

Dunno. It's not that beautiful. I mean not any better than Thailand. Wasn't impressed with Penang. And KL and Putrajaya are boring. Standard of living might be a bit higher than Thailand, and English is spoken much more in Malaysia than Thailand - and the My Malaysia Second Home is a good initiative -- if you really want to live in Malaysia. I don't.

Agree with that (on average, of course).

I don't think any SE Asian country is very clean, at least not by Western standards (beaches, street litter, etc.), except for Singapore maybe. (By 'Western' I'd exclude dirty Paris and much of London and some other rundown cities in the UK - (someone should write a paper on the number of Mars bar and crisp wrappers collecting at the end of the average windy Tube platform, per capita, of course)

No. Written by Brian Wilson & Roger Christian for their 1963 Surfer Girl album, the second of three they did that year. No wonder he went a bit loopy, writing, producing, touring etc.

Jan & Brian rewrote the lyrics as Sidewalk Surfin'' but still using the BBs vocal harmonies in September 1964.

Many western countries are now turning into dumps now too.

Not only Malaysia but Vietnam also...far better, cheaper, more welcoming and fewer visa related hassles.

Well said. Also, the people visitng the Thai border towns (those looking for a weekend getaway - not doing penny-ante business) tend to be the Chinese Malays. Like Thailand and Indonesia, they are the economic driving force of their countries. The rest of Malaysia, by that I mean by the majority Malaysians aren't interested in bettering things - and so the place is really dull. That's why Mahathir got so frustrated with them - and said so publicly - claiming that so many government advantages were deliberately made up for them, yet they still couldn't be bothered.

I never heard of Langkawi before others here seem to say good things about it. Mentioned to this my Thai wife and she's skeptical because her last trip to Malaysia with here sister unnerved them because the amount of armed police on the streets.

I'm skeptical myself. Doesn't feel to like the country has good vibes to me.
