Authorities have seized a lion owned by a well-known influencer in Kanchanaburi after it escaped from its enclosure and attacked two residents, including an 11-year-old boy. The Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation (DNP) confirmed that the incident occurred on the evening of October 4 in Rang Kham village, Nong Kum subdistrict, Bo Phloi district. The child, who sustained injuries, was taken to Surasee Camp Hospital in Lat Ya for treatment, while another local resident also suffered injuries.

The lion, owned by influencer Mr. Parinya, was captured following the attack. DNP Director-General Atthapol Charoenchansa said the case constitutes a violation of Section 15 of the Wildlife Conservation and Protection Act, which prohibits releasing or allowing protected wildlife to escape from care. The offence carries a penalty of up to six months in prison, a fine not exceeding 50,000 baht, or both.

Officials confirmed that the lion has been confiscated and designated as state property. Mr. Parinya has been ordered to cover all costs associated with the lion’s care and feeding during the ongoing investigation. The DNP stated that the incident highlights the dangers of keeping exotic animals in inadequate enclosures within residential areas.

Prior to the attack, wildlife officers from the DNP’s Wildlife Conservation Office had inspected the property on October 3. They instructed Mr. Parinya to improve the lion’s enclosure to ensure greater security and safety. However, just one day later, the animal managed to escape, leading to the attack on the child and another villager.

Mr. Atthapol confirmed that the department will pursue legal action against the influencer for negligence under wildlife protection laws. He emphasised that owners of protected species must meet strict standards of care and containment to prevent harm to the public. The DNP also reminded the public that private ownership of such animals is tightly regulated under Thai law.

Officials are currently determining where the lion will be relocated and whether it will remain under government supervision permanently. Investigations into the exact cause of the escape are ongoing, with the results expected to influence future wildlife ownership enforcement.

Not really a good wild life protection law, which allows you to keep lions on your property without professional expertise.

Anyway it should not be allowed

50,000bht fine at most . Someone needs to go through thai law and up a lot of these fines as most are a joke .

Guy is very lucky the lion wasn't fully grown , otherwise the kids outside his house wouldn't be so lucky.

Amazing Thailand

Lion tamers have been killed for decades with "tame" lions. These animals, no matter if they were raised from a cub, are very strong and dangerous at times, and shouldn't be allowed near anyone. Some can't be put back into the wild as they'll be killed, but that means keeping them away from anyone besides their trainers at all times. The cats of all species are killers, and some underestimate what they'll do.

Even his front gates are so flimsy, a fully grown lion could easily get though or even jump them.

The owner obviously doesn’t have eno brain cells to be called an influencer, more like the village idiot! Hope it costs him dearly !

Seemingly there are quite a few people in Thailand keeping lions tigers ect as pets

They obviously have money and influence

It's about time the government stepped in and enforced stronger laws on animals welfare

Ie people should not have these animals as pets bad enough they are kept in Zoos

I really hate the term "influencer". It always makes me think of an unintelligent scammer. The only people that are more stupid are all the ones that support the influencer and make them rich.

Seems that  dictators and their sons have a taste for keeping dangerous wild animals as pets. Weird people .

Lions do not belong in a confined domestic environment.

The lion will eventually kill its owner as it already happened in several cases.

Hopefully 🤞

As others have said, way too small a fine and punishment for something this serious.

What! You mean the lion is going to be fined as well?

Well said! The only individuals who truly belong in a confined domestic setting are those who keep wild animals in their homes

I’m with you 100%.  I dislike with word “Influencer” as much as I dislike influencers.  Get a real job!

An "influencer" for idiots, you must be thick, two short planks and have a very shallow life if you allow people on YouTube to influence you.

My question is, where did muppet get a lion?

I mean, really, where did the “idiotfluncer” get it? -Steal it?  -find it?

WTF

Not pedantic. Entirely right.

This thread reminds me of the police officer stood on a street corner  when a crowd of people ran past screaming and shouting.  He grabbed one of them and enquired as to what was going on.

"a lion has escaped from the zoo"

"which way did it go" asked the officer

"well we are not bloody chasing it"

Where would you put a lion that can't pay a fine

The nearest Monkey cage
