Police in Ubon Ratchathani are searching for a man who allegedly murdered his mother with a knife just seven days after being released from prison for killing his father. The brutal attack occurred at around 19:40 on 8 October 2025 in Ban Nong Manow, Kut Lat subdistrict, Mueang district. Authorities have urged residents in the area to stay indoors and lock their homes as the suspect remains at large and is believed to be armed.

Rescue workers from the Sis Phra Jik Kung Rescue Foundation were called to the scene after reports of a violent assault. They discovered the body of a woman, aged 60, lying dead on a wooden bench outside her house. The victim had sustained multiple severe wounds to her face, head, neck and left arm, believed to have been inflicted with a knife or machete, but the weapon was not found at the scene.

Police believe the victim’s son, identified only as “Yim,” is responsible for the attack. He had reportedly been released from prison just a week earlier after serving time for the murder of his father. The motive for the new killing remains unclear, but witnesses said the suspect appeared intoxicated before the incident.

The Warinchamrap Ban Hao Ubon Ratchathani Facebook page warned residents that the suspect was still on the run and might pose a serious threat. A post on the same night reported that the man remained at large and urged people in the Nong Manow–Pha Kaeo area to secure their homes. Police and local volunteers have since launched a coordinated search operation across nearby communities.

Authorities have intensified efforts to locate the fugitive, setting up checkpoints and increasing patrols around the district. Residents have been advised to report any suspicious activity immediately. Police confirmed that the suspect is armed and the situation has caused widespread fear among villagers.
