2. Repeat it again and again (ad nauseam).

3. Tell the people - that you are the one - and the only one - wich can solve (the not existing) problem.

4. Change the judicial system to gain power.

5. Polotical oppenents are called enemies. 

6. These "enemies" must be fought. If necessary, with force or through the amended justice system.

7. Demonstrations are portrayed as violent mobs. -> Repeat it again and again.

8. Military forces are deployed to restore "order".

The division only seems to be getting worse, but one thing that I've noticed is that there's a lot more name calling coming from the right then there is from the left. I think both parties are pretty corrupt, and I think the leadership of both parties is pretty poor, but the supporters on the right seem to be more willing to engage in the mimicry of their political master in descending to the level of sewer speech, with rabid name calling of people who have different political views than they do. And that is something to be ashamed of.

I guess that is only true if you ignore everyone on the left calling you a racist or a Nazi any time you espouse an opinion they don't agree with. I suppose it really depends on what you consider name calling, but I see vile behavior occurring much more often on the left than I do on the right.
