I don't agree with the timeline above. It was Bakunin and the anarchists. Anarchists Emma Goldman and Alexander Berkman in the teens and twenties were part of opposition to the WWI draft--and Socialists like Eugene Debs-- who formed the first antifa. Anarchists are, by definition, antifascist.
