The Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Centre in Pattaya received a report, at 01:30 on 19 October 2025, of a self-harm incident at a beer bar on Pattaya Beach Road 13/2, Chonburi. Rescue volunteers arrived at the scene to find a 35-year-old woman, identified as Ms. Natty, with a neck injury and bleeding, lying on the floor awaiting assistance. She received first aid before being rushed to hospital for further treatment, while nearby tourists were visibly alarmed by the incident.

 

A witness, 24-year-old Ms. Wunsen, said the injured woman had been drinking with her foreign partner and they were arguing throughout the evening. At one point, after her partner walked away, the woman reportedly picked up a small knife and cut her neck before bystanders intervened and removed the weapon.

 

CCTV footage captured the incident clearly and has been handed over to police as evidence. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the event.

no one can be held responsible to someone inflicting harm on themselves.

Drunk Isaan women can be quite unpredictable. I suspect the same might be true of Isaan men, but I don’t have enough personal experience to say for sure. I only remember visiting the home of a former acquaintance in Isaan and ending up in the company of several drinking Thai men. After a while, I felt some dangerous vibes in the air, and citing urgent matters, I asked my acquaintance to escort me back to the hotel where we were staying.

That's quite a guess!

Have a look when you are out and about the bars. Quite a few of the older girls have scars on their wrists from failed or feigned attempts at self harm.

Like they say, if your serious, down the road, not across the street.

Are you sure?   In many countries attempted suicide is one sure fire way of getting sectioned,   In the UK feigning attempted suicide is also a proven way of getting the taxman off ones back.  apparently they don't actually want blood, well at least not on their hands. A guy I know tried it , and following  a week or so in the psycho ward,  a large (and fully justified) tax demand simply disappeared  forever.

But i would strongly suggest any expats concerned about the recent unconfirmed rumours regarding tax here , should check out the relevant  Thai legislation and indeed the conditions in the local nut house, known here by many as "Lankar daeng"  ( red roof)     before  taking that route

I doubt it There are several in our village still at it in their 50's  all seem to be currently successful , don't forget there are newbies arriving every single day
