If you're doing OMAD, maybe find some good buffets.

It will be well worth the 300-400 Baht

Makes sense in theory. I actually found when you do OMAD, even though you have the urge to splurge on the one meal that is counterproductive, because your digestive system revolts . It would be better to eat normal, or even in moderation when doing OMAD. But granted, that's psychologically counter-intuitive.

A meta-analysis of prospective epidemiologic studies showed that there is no significant evidence for concluding that dietary saturated fat is associated with an increased risk of CHD (coronary heart disease) or CVD (cardiovascular disease).

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/20071648/

Eventhough the research supports RFK Jr's new guidelines, obviously it's still important to monitor the amount of fat, any fat, you consume, as fat has calories an excess of which can be converted into fat on your sculpted Adonis body.

You do have a sculpted Adonis body, right?

I am eating saturated fats. I am always a little concerned that I might be eating too much .... I really don't know how much is too much.

Saturated fats aren’t unhealthy, it’s the over heating of the fats such as charred animal fats and high temp oil cooking, fats that are unhealthy and along with other unhealthy foods is taxing on the body to process and assimilate. Though over consumption of any fat isn’t good. Slow low temperature cooking is best. Raw even better.

Will Americans now be forced to follow the Trump-Kennedy diet?  Does it include cocaine?

Well aged filet, baked Idaho Potato, Sauteed mushrooms, buttered bread, whole milk, Ice Cream

Back in the 70’s my girlfriend gave me this book Survival In The 21st Century by Viktoras Kulvinskas, read and lived by it for over ten years, haven’t looked at it in forty years though it still applies today.

Are you disrespecting the traditional diet of the Alaska Natives? Racist!

Yes, you need to drink your 5 cokes per day. American diet has never been healthy in the land where the XXXXXL size was invented. Much before Trump in fact.

The American diet is what you make it. You can eat crapola in any country. Some ethnic foods are heavy in calories.  Western food is as healthy as any other, if you use the right ingredients and either make it yourself or go to a restaurant that does the same. Thailand is slowly catching up to the west for those cokes and other sugar drinks, along with the snacks and every meal rice.

Very true for sure. But how many can really afford it back in America ? Basic veggies are out of reach for many..the healthier it gets, the more it costs.

If Americans started eating only OMAD, the farmers would be up in arms.

People will buy crap no matter how they get the food, from cash to food stamps. I've seen countless times full baskets of garbage with mothers using the Snap card. Healthy food costs much the same as unhealthy but they either don't care or really don't understand what makes good nutrition for themselves and their families. This is why you see so many children who are overweight with parents the same. They're taught young.

The "vegan agenda" in the West has been pushed for decades now.

And first the "Food Pyramid" which was crap.

Yes, yes as it means less arrogant, loud, fat Yanks in a not so distant future.

The Covid dip in the graph below, shows the combined effect of obesity and of an overwhelmed health system. Even worse to come now...

As long as it is them who bend to pick it up and not me bending over to pick up the cake of soap like in the showers of Alcatraz at the time.

The biggest problem in diet is of course excess sugar, not saturated fat, the real killer which no Democrat administration and almost no scientist really warned against.

To be fair the knowledge that carbs are basically  sugar has only recently penetrated the Zeitgeist.

I wonder what the new guideliness will say about sugar.

Some guys still swear by strict carnivore and claim carbs are not essential.

But quite a few folks who were doing Keto or Carnivore diets have started to add back carbs. For one thing, their fasted blood sugar was rising ....

It's complex, contradictory, and confusing. Not sure who to believe.

At the end of the day, the only way to know if your diet is working is weight loss + also blood work. Weight loss alone is not enough.

Also, not all carbs are created equal.

11 minutes ago, save the frogs said:

Yes, like the Buddha said, choose the middle way. Be balanced. Do not go overboard with one thing.

Guys who only do carnivore, just like people who only do OMAD, have found they create new problems.

The problems is the body is crazy smart. So it adapats. Which means you have to outsmart your body.

They way you do that is to do carb cycling, combined with fasting and OMAD. So the body doesn't know what will happen. In effect you are mimicking the way humans evolved in the stone age, periods of little food, followed by feast followed by fast.

Hence 5:1:1, 4:2:1 or 3:3:1.

By carb cycling the body can not adjust, it never knows what will happen, will it get carbs or protein?

So you still do keto, but for a very short time. You still do fasting, but for a very short time. You still feast, but for a short time. You do IF, but for a short time. You mix everything, you carb cycle. You still eat carbs, but you're also doing keto and fasting.

Obviously, this has the added benefit that you drastically reduce calories, sugar, fat, and all the things that can be bad for you in the wrong dosage. Really the problem is just wrong dosage. No food is really bad. We just ate too much saturated fat, too much sugar, too much salt, etc. But in the right dose none of those things are bad. The question is "What is the right dosage for you"?

Even sugar and carbs, in the right dosage, are perfectly harmless. The problem is people eat too many carbs, too much sugar, too much fat, too much protein, etc.

You should have more fully quoted the report, and the predictable nonsense of RFK Jr.s ideas:

"Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is expected to release new dietary guidelines encouraging more consumption of saturated fats, despite long-held medical recommendations advising against this. [emphasis added]

...

The American Heart Association (AHA) — who Kennedy accused of being “co-opted by the food industry” in a Senate hearing earlier this year — recommends limiting saturated fats to only 6 percent of one’s diet.

“Saturated fats are found in butter, cheese, red meat, other animal-based foods and tropical oils. Decades [of] science has proven that saturated fats can raise your ‘bad’ cholesterol and put you at higher risk for heart disease,” the AHA says in its guidance.

...

In evaluating the carnivore diet, the British Heart Foundation said, “Extreme diets high in saturated fat and low in fibre are known to raise cholesterol levels, increasing the risk of heart attack and stroke.”

https://thehill.com/newsletters/health-care/5564158-rfk-jr-recommend-eating-saturated-fats/

It's predictable non-scientific nonsense from one of the biggest health misinformers in the world!

"Since 2005, Kennedy has promoted vaccine misinformation[1] and public-health conspiracy theories,[2] including the chemtrail conspiracy theory,[3] HIV/AIDS denialism,[4] and the scientifically disproved claim of a causal link between vaccines and autism.[5] He has drawn criticism for fueling vaccine hesitancy amid a social climate that gave rise to the deadly measles outbreaks in Samoa and Tonga.[6]

Kennedy is the founder and former chairman[7] of Children's Health Defense, an anti-vaccine advocacy group and proponent of COVID-19 vaccine misinformation."

...

Kennedy began experiencing severe short- and long-term memory loss and mental fog in 2010. In a 2012 divorce court deposition, he attributed neurological issues to "a worm that got into my brain and ate a portion of it and then died", in addition to mercury poisoning from eating large quantities of tuna.[465][467] In October 2025, his wife Cheryl Hines confirmed that a worm ate "a little bit of his brain and then died."

How do you manage to be on the wrong side of EVERY health-related issue, such as diet and vaccines? It can't be just coincidence. Is somebody paying you to disseminate your disinformation?

IMO he is on the right side of the health-related issues which have been posted on AN and which he has challenged with facts, research, medical publications and peer-reviewed evidence, whereas others are content with quoting nonsense from the likes of RFK Jr, Facebook and dubious websites as well as a few other nut jobs on AN.

One only needs to look on AN to discover there are a few folks who should be locked up in an institution when they state that there is no such thing as bacteria or viruses and so on.

I'll stay with the science, the facts and the research.

So if you think that the current health advice (based on "facts, research, medical publications and peer-reviewed evidence") is correct, let me ask you: Are Americans now healthier than ever? Or are they in the worst health ever? I rest my case.

And when it becomes widely accepted that you and he are wrong, will you accept being locked up in an institution?

Oh dear that's a really thin premise upon which to base any argument regarding health and the fact that many Americans love to overindulge in unhealthy eating habits and food choices, really has no bearing on my post.

Now go and pick up your case and get back into the intellectual and medical void from whence you came.
