Bad luck for Forest who were leading 1-0 until right near the end.

West Ham 4 Macclesfield 1 (after extra time,90 mins 1-1)

A good performance from the Silkmen who were leading 1-0 until 15 minutes from time and were later reduced to 10 men.

Reading the reports this performance doesnt appear to have endeared Alan Curbishley more to the Hammers fans !

bad luck to Forest and the Macclesfield, as you say both were in the lead towards the end against premier league opposition.

You we right Chavy, we saw off the wolves. albeit 4-3 on penalties, good result for the millers though... :o:D

Good draw for Rotherham in the next round of the Carling Cup......Southampton at home....you should see them off as they look likely to be struggling again this season

Newcastle v Spurs,United v Middlesbrough,Watford v West Ham amongst the other ties.

I Still think big Keith's the man for the job though !!!

Are you sure ? Macclesfield 0 Darlington 6.....Keith must be under a fair bit of pressure now !

Even Chester won yesterday......5-1.

A draw for Rotherham......Bournemouth and Luton both lost.

Forest losing 5-1.....hopefully just a hiccup,chavy.

Bournemouth boss Kevin Bond has become the first managerial casualty of the new season, according to Sky Sports News.

The manager has been sacked following the club's disappointing start to the season.

The Cherries began their League Two campaign with a 17-point deduction and have not been able to make significant inroads into their deficit.

Bournemouth drew their opening two games before losing at home to newly promoted Exeter.

They were then beaten 3-1 by Port Vale, a result which appears to have been the final straw.

Bond had coaching roles with Portsmouth, Southampton and Newcastle before he took charge at Bournemouth in June 2006.

He almost guided the Cherries to League One safety last season with a fantastic late run of five wins in six games, but a 10-point penalty proved decisive as they suffered relegation.

THE SACK RACE HAS STARTED..........

After picking up the League 2 manager of the month award yesterday, boss Mark Robins dedicates the award to the team and fans.

Article continues below

Robbo picked up his 2nd award as Millers boss and like he did with the first one, he dedicated it to the team and fans.

Speaking to todays Rotherham Advertser, Robbo said: "It's brilliant and is recognition of how well we have performed. I'm delighted to win but you are only as good as the players and staff around you and the supporters have played a part in it too. It's been a real team effort."

Robins looked back at the 1-0 win opening day win over Lincoln City as the most important; "That was the result that got us off and running after a difficult summer, The Sheffield Wednesday win was fantastic for everyone and a really special occasion and to come through it was fantastic. Then we went to Morecambe and put the bad season result there last year to rest. The next match against Chester had added pressure because they hadn't had a great start and then won 5-1 the next game."

"Then we managed to get past Wolves and that was another great result considering they'd beaten Wednesday 4-1 and, just like Chester, went and won 5-1 next game."

"Our point at Brentford last week was a good one and rounded off a great start for us. What has happened so far bodes well for the future but we're not getting carried away. The aim now is to concentrate on making it a good September." he added.

As with last time Robbo won the award, the Millers next opponants are Chesterfield at Saltergate, we won that game 2-0 last time, and Robbo is looking for a simlar result tomorrow; "Chesterfield are a decent side capable of going straight up in my view, so it's another tough one for us." he told the Tiser.

Congrats to Mark Robins. it's looking good for the millers right now. With the likes of Macclesfield, Chester etc seemingly trying their level best to finish with little or no points, it all bodes well for Rotherham to overhaul the points reduction. Luton are quietly picking up the points as well and are making in roads on the 30 point reduction. Only Bournemouth seem to be struggling right now. Maybe Jimmy Quinn will get them going, he did a great job at Cambridge but for the life of me can't understand why they got rid of him :o

The curse of the Manager of the month continues:-

A dramatic late header from Alan Goodall shattered Rotherham's unbeaten record and gave Chesterfield a 1-0 victory - their first home win of the season.

The defender rose the highest to get on the end of a long ball in the fourth minute of stoppage time before looping a header over goalkeeper Andy Warrington who had earlier kept his side on level terms.

Warrington made excellent saves as he thwarted attempts from Jamie Winter and Jamie Ward but the visitors also had their chances with Reuben Reid spurning a glorious opportunity - firing over from 12 yards in the first half.

It had to happen sooner or later, still a better start to the season than many thought would happen and its the mighty Dale next week........

Macclesfield 2 Luton 1 :o Maccs first points and first goals in the league this season.

Keith Alexander played several youngsters and their enthusiasm had the desired effect.

Five clubs below Macc now, including the three who had points deducted.......Grimsby only 2 points,Barnet zero.

Yes,the Manager of the Month curse struck for Rotherham but you had to lose some time.

Youll be safe,no problem, maybe even challenge for the play offs if you keep your form up.

Rochdale 0 Wycombe 1......Wycombe top of the league now.

Are Dale suffering a bit of a hangover from last years Wembley exploits,mr bj ?

Rotherham vs Rochdale

Rotherham United Football Club

2 - 2

Rochdale Football Club

Date:

13/09/2008

Venue:

Don Valley Stadium

Attendance:

3569

Referee:

Darren Drysdale

Rotherham United grabbed a dramatic late equaliser deep into injury time to remain undefeated at Don Valley Stadium.

With time ebbing away Reuben Reid pounced on a Drewe Broughton knockdown to smash the ball into the top corner to earn a point after the Millers were two goals behind.

Rotherham began the game well forcing a series of early long throws into the area but the Dale defence was up to the task on each occasion. The first chance then fell to Rochdale on four minutes when Adam Rundle ran to the edge of the area but he shot tamely wide.

On 14 minutes Andy Warrington had to be alert when Clark Keltie took a quick free kick which was saved low down by the Millers number one. Rotherham then went straight up the other end and almost took the lead when Reuben Reid shot from 20 yards but Sam Russell managed to spill an awkward shot wide of the post.

On 22 minutes Dale almost broke the deadlock when a deep cross by Simon Ramsden found Adam Le Fondre but his shot was blocked by Warrington. Soon after Danny Harrison had the Millers' best chance of the half when he shot from just inside the area, but Russell was equal to the effort, palming the ball wide.

As the half went on Rotherham struggled to get any foothold in the game and could have no complaints when four minutes before half time Rochdale took the lead. Will Buckley barged his way into the penalty area, his shot was brilliantly saved by Warrington but the re-bound fell to Jordan Rhodes who converted from six yards.

Half time

Rotherham United 0 v 1 Rochdale

During the interval Mark Robins replaced Ryan Taylor with Broughton but the change did nothing to invigorate the Millers. Dale continued to look more threatening and Buckley went close shooting over after a pass by Gary Jones. In the 51st minute Dale's pressure was rewarded and they deservedly doubled their lead, when Jones played in Buckley who fizzed in a low drive past a stranded Warrington.

On the hour mark Rotherham missed a great chance to equalise when Jones miscued his clearance, but Broughton failed to convert the loose ball from six yards out. Rochdale thought they added a third on 64 minutes but Rhodes was denied a second by the linesman's flag.

It seemed that the Millers were heading for defeat but then on 70 minutes the game took a new twist. Rochdale substitute Lee Thorpe dove into a challenge with Ian Sharps, referee Darren Drysdale judged it a dangerous tackle and sent him off after only three minutes on the field.

Rotherham then rallied and pulled one back in bizarre fashion. Pablo Mills headed a clearance back into the area which was then flicked on by Rory McArdle, over his own 'keeper and into the net.

The Milllers then piled on the pressure with both sub Alex Rhodes and Broughton going close in a matter of minutes. With five minutes remaining a Broughton header was cleared off the line by Rundle, whilst at the other end Chris Dagnall shot over when running clear.

Deep into the fifth minute of stoppage time the Millers' late pressure was rewarded when Reid showed his strikers instinct to snatch a very late point and send the Don Valley faithful into raptures.

Thankfully i waited to the final whistle this week. Glad i did :o

The Mighty Dale 2-1 Chesterfield

Tom Kennedy's stoppage-time free-kick earned Rochdale victory in a breathless finish at Spotland.

The home side went ahead on 70 minutes as Will Buckley found the top right-hand corner of the net from an acute angle.

Jamie Ward looked to have rescued a point for Chesterfield when his free-kick went through the hands of Dale keeper Sam Russell.

But Ward was then sent off for dissent in injury time before Kennedy's winner.

Port Vale 1 Macclesfield Town 4 :D

What a transformation the last three weeks. After three consecutive wins Macc are in the top half and only 3 points off a play off place !

I'm hoping for a similar transformation in the Predictions League......but I think will have to start next week ! :o

Think the Port Vale boss,Lee Sinnott, will be under pressure after that result, particularily as he took them down last season.
