Kasikorn has lowered ATM withdrawals to 20,000 baht ???

Featured Replies

Yesterday, I received an SMS saying my debit card limits have changed. When I asked at the bank, I was told everyone got the same SMS.  ATM withdrawals are limited to 20,000 baht. Has anyone else heard about this?  I don't know if that is a daily limit or not.

  • You may find that those methods that the bank chooses to allow you to spend or withdraw more are quite inconvenient if and when you're in hospital, which was the scenario I was responding to.

  • Correct. They just decreased all my limits without telling me,  ATM withdrawal limit is now 20,000 per day, cannot be increased.  It used to be 200,000. They did not tell me, I did not get a

It may be a default setting so can you increase it in the app or online?

I heard nothing new. I wonder if they altered the actual ATMs - next time I go to the ATM I will withdraw 30,000 as usual and see if it works.

No, it's not that.  I previously had my card set at a much higher limit.  The bank staff mentioned the police made the bank do this.

I guess you did not get the SMS from them? The bank staff said everyone got the SMS.

That's right, no SMS for me. I also found that recent changes regarding daily spending limits do not apply to me.

I booked a flight for about 160k Baht and simply increased my limit to 200k and paid for it with my debit card not long ago, no problem there either.

I agree. I try and avoid handling cash as much as possible.

I didn't get the SMS from KBank. I don't have a KBank debit card but cardless withdrawal says I can withdraw up to 30,000 baht at a time.

Yesterday, I also noticed that my maximum daily transaction limit has been upped from 200,000 to 500,000 baht. Previously it was changed from 5 million baht per day to 200,000 baht per day.

Yes, or card payments. I do nearly everything by credit card in order to collect points which can be converted in airline miles, cash vouchers or even direct discounts in department stores.

Haven't got changes from Kbank.

Still shows 30k for ATM.

Got a message in the app from Krungsri recently about new limits.

Haven't really noticed what has changed but even looks like a raise of limits...

For me, at SCB, QR/PromptPay transactions (along with transfers, withdrawals, and bill payments) go against my daily 30,000 daily "limit".

I think I can get that raised to 50,000 with a visit to a branch and facial-rec "enabled".

Just a thought but I wonder if it's related to your age?

Talk on here recently about over 70s being classed as more vulnerable to scams, and at least one bank no longer allows overs 70s to sign up to the app.  Could it be along the same lines with that group limited to the amount of cash they can withdraw?

Any of the above posters with no SMS over 70?

I got a notification on the app today, not an SMS message:

"Notice of maximum daily transaction limit for your KBank debit card.

Debit Card Number xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx

Cash withdrawal Limit 100,000Baht per day

Funds Transfer Limit 100,000 Baht per day

Spending Limit 200,000 Baht per day".

...with instructions for altering those limits

What you were told is not true as a daily limit for everyone.  Maybe each withdrawal is limited to B20k per transaction.

Yes, over 70 and no notification at the time of the OP, then today received a notification on the app, not an SMS message, of limits of 100k for withdrawals and transfers and spending limit of 200k

I took out 30k and 15k today on my K Bank ATM card.

And, as I just posted, I was notified on the app today that my daily withdrawal limit is B100K.    The OP has got it wrong.

Maybe this was a computer error on my account ? I am over 70 but others have said that is not an issue. I have had this account for many years.  I almost never use my ATM card but I will try it and report back. Thanks to all posters for their info.

I would call it a revenue booster.  It's part of the larger banking scheme

My spending limit was just recently doubled to 100,000 from 50,000.

No matter, I use my child's Thai account at Kasikorn.

I should note, that my account is almost 10 years old.

I got exactly the same notification, yesterday.

There is a chance they're individually setting limits based on account activity, balances and expected behaviour.

My Mrs asked them to increase her limits and they said no, mine are essentially whatever I want to set them to - but I spend millions of Baht a year through that account - she doesn't.

When denying the increase in limits request they told her (a Thai national) via message that these limits they have set are appropriate for her account usage.

What they didn't know is that she was about to go into a private hospital for an operation which would cost up to 300,000 Baht - so instead of simply sending this money to her as they wanted 50% before and the remainder on discharge I had to move my own ass down to the bank and I withdrew 500k in cash, some of which was then used to pay for the operation in cash which they questioned at the hospital - she told them it's due to the banks limits as they sat there like idiots counting large amounts of cash like it's the 1980s - they had not heard this before.

I don't think the OP has it wrong. My notification on the app said the new maximum daily transaction limits were:

Cash withdrawal 20,000

Funds transfer 30,000

Spending limit 50,000

He's got it wrong as a general policy of Kasikorn, I've posted the notification that I received today (100k, 100k and 200k), as have others.

Glad I stumbled on this thread.

My daily limit with Kasikorn was still 5 million until a few days ago. I checked after reading this thread, and it is now 500,000.

As I planned to go to Bangkok tomorrow to buy more gold, as have been doing since January every time a fixed deposit matures, I would not have been able to pay for the purchase, if I hadn't checked this topic.

What the hell do those banks think? That they own my money?

I contacted the call centre already and told them they have till 9am tomorrow to bring the limits back to the previous level, or there will be 1 baht left in each account.

They suggested they can increase it for 1 hour, each time I call them, but I made clear that is not gonna happen, as I made them clear again that no bank is gonna decide how and when I can spend MY money.

BTW, I did the face scan with SCB on Friday, tested it already, and it works.

My daily limit with SCB was 5 million, and on Monday I received an email that I could increase it to 10 million, which I promptly activated.
