My new baked beans procedure

Problem with opening a large can of beans is you are under pressure to finish in a few days, that alone puts me off, so now i open, use a portion then put the remainder in 2 to 3 Tupperware containers and freeze, which can be defrosted at my leisure no pressure.

Any other great ideas?

Be creative & go a-la-carte mode.

Cold baked beans, pickled onions, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes & garlic salt to name a few options. Fresh bread is a must.

At least 3 days tucker.🙃🙃

  • I put a bit of cling film/shrink wrap  over the can top and keep it in the fridge for quite a while..eventually the mould grows at which point I throw the lot out freezing sounds like a good

  • Sadly there are some on here I'm convinced get their jollies by reacting with the thumbs down. Simple trolls with simple minds.

  • How do you make 1 kg of beans out of 700 gram of ingredients?   Anyway , 2 cans of Ayam beans is 118 baht, 850gram net, of which 480 gram is beans, and no hassle.

Why are all tinned goods so expensive in Thailand?  Is everything imported or are there canning companies here?

Yeah , baked beans with vegemite.Tastes great.

My Thai partner batch cooks all my favourite meals (Massaman curry, Thai green curry, red curry, etc.) and we store them in the freezer for those times when she is eating something that isn't one of my favourites.  You can also freeze individual rice portions too.  They taste as fresh as the day they were cooked when defrosted and reheated, and no loss of nutrients.

Yet another opportunity for those single-use plastic bags with the rubber band seal...

Does freezing them not reduce quality, make 'em mushy or whatever?

How long do they hold?

Thank god for Aseannow!

And now some old folks can head off to heavenly pastures now knowing that you can freeze half a can of baked beans and 6 months later if they are still around, you can defrost said can of beans and they taste the same as when they were frozen!

😁😁😁🤣😖

Deepseek suggested freezing, where they last many months, fridge only lasts a few days so forced to eat or bin

You needed AI to figure out that things can be frozen and eaten later? really? What did you think that big steel box with the cold insides was for?

I don't know what's worse, the fact that you couldn't make the intellectual leap on your own, or the fact that you posted it here like it wasn't obvious as fook.

Because something isn't to YOUR taste, doesn't mean it is crap,

And a quick glance at your reputation score, tells me that most of your posts are CRAP

But I Am Allowed to post MY Opinion....O.K. ??

Beans made homemade with the right ingredients are always the best. I hadn't had them for awhile until I ordered Bob's Red Mill 13 beans from Shopee. They came out alright, although the pork wasn't the best. Not as good as when I had them back home. The best canned I've had are Bush's many varieties. Heinz are okay, although the ones I bought here don't have the same taste as those I bought back home. A little flat. I'll have to try Ayam's but I think Bush's will always be the best canned. Villa has Bushs, although I haven't seen the no sugar variety yet.

Me too, cook Penang sauce, green curry sauce, jasmine rice, chicken breast pieces and freeze, so prep is easy

I like adding cheese to the sauce.

Ayam baked beans; did you know they have several varieties, include pizza baked beans, curry flavour and cheesy baked beans?

Mainly sold in China, but you can buy them on Lazada if you search carefully.

Add a teaspoon of tomato puree and a dash of fish sauce to a portion and then cook.

Would you like to know if someone had given you a "Thanks" for your OP, and that then they had given another poster a "Haha" when they took the piss out of it?

I like to keep things simple, so whenever I feel like eating baked beans, I just open a SMALL can that I can finish off right away.

All you need is a spoon. Open can. Eat beans. No heating, no storage and no dishes to wash except the spoon. Easy. Can stir in a bit of cracked pepper is so desired.

Dried beans is the clue

You mean you have discovered a way to increase the weight without adding any more water?

I think you must soak or simmer thee beans first. That will absorb some extra weight.

Indeed. I've said many times if they got rid of the anonomyzer the thumbs down trolling would virtually be non-existent.

Yes!  I've also mentioned this many times.

I would really like to know why  AN doesn't seem to want to do so. It used to work like that so there may be a reason of course - any Mod care to give us a clue please?

UPDATE

And even before the edit time expires, some "individual" has proved my point.

IME, if you can plan ahead, defrost slowly. It makes  the finished article's consistency and flavour truer to the original.

I will take the frozen item out of the freezer several hours before I want it, leaving it to thaw at room temperature. Or if I'm really organised, move it from the freezer to the 'fridge the previous evening.

Worst case if you must defrost in the microwave, defrost at the lowest temperature setting, then increase it for the final cycle.

Oh and if you get takeaways or deliveries, and the containers are reusable, keep for when you've cooked and want to freeze.

I sometimes cook something like a big Panang  Gai, then split it off, eating one portion and freezing others.

And finally, for baked beans (must be Branston if available) I add onion granules, Tabasco, Worcester Sauce, Basil and some butter before heating them.

Dont freeze that, if I have baked beans, I prepare to eat in short time.

One day part and some later, a day, 2,3  days after the rest.

Depending on being lazy, but end it in same week. After all you eat every day.

Most of the times, I start with frying onions, bell pepper and mix all.

Of course grinded meat to it and then add garlic, chili, soya sauce.

Eat just like that or with some little rice or potato.

Bell pepper is a vegetable which in freezer doesnt feel happy and gets soggy.

I think the answer is somehow it creates work, but I'd just ignore the people creating the work, problem gone

Indeed you can....and, just pushing my point, here's where identifiable emojis would help.

I "liked" your reply to my post, but for you to know it's me, I have to actually reply whereas if you could see my "like" it would save time.

Just sayin'.......  🤔
