I saw something truly disgusting today.

Featured Replies

It was a picture of a foreigner, supposedly stealing something from a shop with threats of 3-5 years in prison, claiming hidden cameras are everywhere and blacklist etc.

The question that immediately sprang to my mind was - Do Thai's never steal anything?

Why are they so hell bent on making foreigners feel uncomfortable?

This is pure discrimination & xenophobia.

Eric.

Many years back while I and my wife was browsing shop fronts in China Town a ruckus break out  as a short chase by several people cornered a man and a severe kicking over commenced.

Apparently he had shoplifted some items so local justice was swift.

Maybe not the sort of justice that could so easily be meted out to a foreigner without risk of backlash.

Hence the warning sign/s ?

Great reply.

The Thai's do it tough, every item stolen could mean missing out on the a daily meal.

So you ever switch on the object on top of your shoulders? CC camera's tourist area, caught tourists stealing. Hence the warning. Why are you so hell bent on bashing Thai's. No wonder they do not like your company.

what's not to bash?

Eric.

Of course locals also steal or cheat their own or foreigners, just like those farangs who are in various real estate or construction businesses in Thailand who cheat other farangs...As a foreigner, retiree, expat in Thailand you will be a target to get overcharged or cheated by anybody...local or one of your own with whom you may be dealing for any issues involving money...

I worked with a lazy sod who happened to be black. People disliked his work ethic, or lack thereof, but he believed that it was racism.  That world view obviated the need for introspection.

Sometimes things are not as we perceive them to be.

Long ago I worked with a guy named Eric. He had white powder under his nose and was often agitated and short with people. He cut off a finger with a machine one day and we never saw him again.

bob, you are nowhere near your old self now. You used to whinge out at least three new Thai-bashing topics a day. Are you losing your whiny edge, or are you just getting lazier in your crusty old age?

I'm so glad you like it. It's not easy to ever please you, so I feel special now.

Is this a confession?  What did you steal?

Must have been. But do send my regards, Eric, to whoever that bob geezer is. Apparently he loves all Thai people though, never has anything unpleasant to say about any of them, except for the ladyboys for some reason.
