Gym Rat Guy Got Weird On Me

Featured Replies

I had a gym rat, some big russian guy, get irritated when I moved a stationary bike in the gym.

I dismounted after completing the ride and he bitched a little immediately about me moving it before I had a chance to put it back into it's original position.

Is it bad gym etiquette to move the bike while I'm using it if it's only a minor re-position and not in anyone's way, or are gym rules to not move any equipment from it's original position?

They have the bikes facing the wall and I moved it in front of the window.

I would had done the same. Hate facing the wall on treadmills, rowing, ski-erg or step machine if not a TV and a remote controll handy that actually works

That is where you already made your first mistake, joining a Pattaya gym filled with big Russians and expecting it to be a civil experience. It is a bit like the mistake you made before when you complained about Thai women not showing deep intimacy with you during sex, and yet all your encounters are on the upper floor of a Soi 6 bar with a one-hour rental unit.

It's never a problem to move easily moved things around,as long as, like you mentioned, it isn't interfering with anyone else's workout or right to pass. Equipment is stationed in certain places to fit as much as possible without getting in other's way, or as a circuit. If you aren't moving a circuit machine there isn't a problem, especially it being a bike. Proper etiquette, which isn't always followed, is to put things back as soon as you're finished. I see dumbbells left all over all the time, as well as cable attachments that should stay with certain machines.

There's some truth in what he says 🙂  Many countries see aggression as a natural sign of strength.   Many Western countries are seen as pussies...

I avoid being classed as a pussy by screaming 'FORK OFF' to anyone who even glances at me......

Would they actually have the TV on a channel you could understand, or would you like to choose your own.

That's kind of what I thought later on. To him it was like saying "what's up, man" in russian, rather then an actual complaint or I'm doing something wrong. I could not get my head around why this big guy working out would really care about a bike being moved.

Because they are weak men. Real tough guys don't get angry. The toughest guy in the room is the quiet one.

Try asking the staff permission first.  It's not your gym.
