This is Thailand, and the thinking is foreigner=money, and a future dream. To find one that's available, trustworthy, isn't looking for money as she's independent and employed, pretty with a good body, and has a good relationship with her father, which is usually mandatory if you don't want a looney, is the hardest thing a man can do, especially here where money means a lot more in a relationship than the west.

Most relationships here are of course about money, with foreign-Thai a lot more.

There's no telling how many men a woman here has had unless she's totally honest, and finding one that speaks English well either means she's been around foreigners a lot, tourist areas, or went to good schools where English was taught and followed that with college where English was ongoing.

The best locals, non college educated, that aren't floozies are still in the villages, speak little to no English, and take a lot of time to romance, being decent, shy towards foreigners and still around that good father.They might be a good partner in many respects, especially the important ones, but unless you also speak Thai, the communication will always be a problem, as talking is mandatory for a good relationship to last.

Men that look in tourist areas for a wife should know what they're getting into, unless they've never researched Thailand enough and don't have any friends or family that is.

What else did you think that we were discussing? All potential meetings were for possible life partners. Hence my visible shuddering when the women approached. A 'no go' from the outset. After I picked up Phuket Girl from the airport yesterday I got some first hand reports how the Austrian is angry, mad and now obviously alone and miserable.

What was particularly significant with her coming back now, is that she absolutely loved her life in Phuket. She made new friends. Played beach volleyball every day, which she loves. And the Austrian pigman was so good to her. He bought her tons of make up. Bought her dresses. Gave her money. And she took it all...and...came back to me.

Our emotional connection was stronger. Despite her dream life in Phuket, she could not forget me, and decided to risk everything with the pigman, leave her dream island, her new friends, her volleyball on the beach...to come back to me.

However, unfortunately, she really does love the life the pigman provided. She loves volleyball on the beach. The life in Phuket. So she wants to live there. I have to come and live with her there. Which I'm very uneasy about. Clearly, there is a risk she will go back to the rich pigman.

She told me she does all this because she loves variety. And she knows the Pigman will just take her back any time.

I told her I need her to be all in. If she leaves again, I can't do it again, that would be it. What I've gone through in the last 4 weeks, I would not wish on my worst enemy. I can't even rejoice in defeating the Austrian, for I know what he's now going trough.

The plan for now is a few days in Bangkok, then beach holiday. Then she'll come back to Chiang Mai and I get ready to sell up and we move to, most likely Phuket, but I'm also trying to get her to visit Ko Samui. I'd rather be away from Phuket. But she's dead set on it.

I've not paid her anything. Apart from the flight and for a hotel in Phuket so she didn't live with the Pigman. No doubt I'll have to pitch in to pay mama's motorcycle, creams etc...eventually.

Regarding your plans with moving to Phuket or Samui, I think it’s not a good idea to live anywhere close to a tourist or nightlife area. You would just provide her the means of living there, but I doubt she would give up her freedom. Think about the future: you sitting in your Phuket apartment, waiting for her to return home from ‘meeting friends’—not reachable coz conveniently her phone battery has died for a few hours…

Thanks. It was very sweet, to see that our connection is alive and well. However, there is a bit of a dark cloud of course, what she did has left traces of pollution.

There was an incident as we were picking chocolate croissants at the mall earlier. I noticed the mangy black baseball cap she was wearing was clearly a man's. I asked her is that the troll's baseball cap. She said it was his. This was particularly offensive as I'd given her a baseball cap before she left, which she left at his place. So I told her to throw that hat in the bin. At first she refused. So walked her to the bin, took it of her head and threw it in the bin. I was not happy for a full 15 minutes, until the rage subsided.

He also bought her a hideous dress. We'll have to burn that when we get to Chiang Mai.

Obviously I'm not enthused about moving to Phuket or Ko Samui. I'd only do it for her. But at least in Phuket I may get to meet this 1.70 m Pigman and stare him down face to face. At Big C. Or the beach. It'd be so off to go to these places, knowing she was there with him. I really hope she goes for Ko Samui instead.

Nah, she's serious about staying with me. She agreed to let me see her phone. She went through mine as well.

The money is not really the issue. The issue is that she loves Phuket, playing beach volleyball there. It's the lifestyle. That's why she went there. Sure, the Pigman bankrolling her, and financing her lifestyle, giving presents, was a nice plus, but it's not about him. She told me she did much worse to him than she did to me.
