Has the breakdown of society hit Asia yet?

Featured Replies

I was just listening to 2GB a Australian news & talkback radio station.

The radio presenter was interviewing a psychologist, he wanted to know why society in Australia has broken down with violence and disrespectful against service workers eg retail workers and why this current generation is disrespectful to the police , elderly etc , why there is a massive increase in youth crime

I noticed this year everywhere I go in Australia there are signs up in banks , Supermarkets etc saying

Do not threaten or Abuse staff !!!

The psychologist a " plum in the mouth"  academic said it's not only in Australia increasing but in Western society where people particularly the latest Generation are becoming selfish ,self centred, violent and abusive if they can't get their own way !

It's only in "Western society" said the Professor  so he means Australia UK and maybe the USA .

Then he said it's because this generation get too much given to them , and many factors why , including ,religion etc  and it doesn't happen in Asia this disrespect he said

But....does it ?

I noticed Philippines is more disrespectful people pushing each other etc , violence road rage etc there too , so the breakdown of society

Are you noticing this change in Thailand?

Any more disrespectful breakdown of society just like the Western society

Giving children a good old fashioned whipping when needed has benefits.

Those issues weren’t relevant growing up.

I seriously doubt violence is up much if at all.  How many clicks does an online source that states that all is well and get on with your day?  Drama sells and we are now bombarded with the drama that is specifically catered to our beliefs.

DIVIDE the people and then sell to each side is what media does.  Good strategy obviously!  Sucks for those interested in the truth.

My Mom hit on occasion but Dad never once hit any of us.  There is a time and place for everything but hitting a child is rarely justified and is counter productive.  All the children feared Dad and not Mom in the least.  Parents that are respected don't need to hit.

My father died aged 45 and left my mum to raise 4 kids aged 16, 8 and 3 year old twins. There were times when her patience wore thin. We all turned out well and we loved and respected our mother very much. I often wonder how she managed.

Spare the rod and spoil the child  they used to say    and they were right

yeah far better to get them involved in the criminal justice system for punishment, a  damn good hiding does no harm

I just laughed it off.  My mother slapped me when I was 13.  I slapped her right back.  She went crying to my dad who did nothing.  That was the LAST time my mother attempted physical violence against me which she'd had been doing since I was very young.

Multinational & multiculturalism? Both are due to immigrants, isn't it?

When/why/how did the immigrants stop integrating into the host society?

In my humble meaning this has all to do with the vaccins we were given against covid. Humanity hasn't ever changed so much ever before. Also healthwise. many strange things have happened all over this planet.

Just that Multiculturalism. So extremely political promoted in Europe in the mid 90s early 2000. Yeah, I saw that live on one of my first "summer holidays" in my home country traveling from Thailand and back after the introduction of Schengen. Schiphol Airport was clogged with multi

With the advent of Muslim immigration. Thank Whitlam for that.

Classical communist act. Keep  (  encourage) the people to keep fighting amongst each other and they forget to fight the government. Divide and rule. The Romans knew that.

Then Authoriatism takes over.

Notice how many unelected 'Commisioners' are being created. Laws until themselves at arm's length from government.

Look at the EU for how well that ends.

George Orwell was a gifted soothsayer.

The advent of Muslim immigration

Simply will not assimilate.

I remember the Vietnamese invasion after the war and all bs stories....living  in one room growing rice  the carpet etc. but they assimilated and became Aussies .

Proud Aussies. Same with Italians, Greeks and Poms from bygone eras.

Let me put a caveat on my comment that Muslims will never integrate

Indonesian muslim people integrate well. They know what a good thing is.

Middle Eastern Muslims people do not.

They hate us.

Tolerate us long as we pay tax to them.

Bought some meat the other day. Displayed a halal slaughtered sticker.

That costs money.

So yes, I paid a Muslim tax in my own country.

It didn't work in my family but like I said, there is a time and a place for everything. Some parents don't have the capacity or the knowledge to discipline their children without violence.

As for the criminal justice system, I wonder how many of the inmates were hit when they were young vs those that were not.  My hunch tells me most of the inmates were disciplined through pain.

Hey if you want to hurt your kid to teach them a lesson, have at it. Nothing I think will change your view and maybe it worked for you.

Good woman I'm sure! My Mom had it easy and so did all of us kids for that matter.  Times change and what worked in one generation might not in another.
