November 10, 2025Nov 10 Popular Post I married my first wife when I was too young and foolish. Lasted a couple of years. Like modern statistics, I was remarried within a year of my divorce. That one was good, great even, for 10 years, but then it too, tanked. I remained a bachelor for the next 17 years, having a fine old time for myself. Plenty of interesting women around, no trouble finding company, but I was NOT about to get married again. Over those years, I had a couple of 'live-ins' but nothing really serious. We were 'playmates.' Friends with benefits. Then I met her... We met for lunch on Saturday (interestingly enough, this was in Japan, but we arranged to meet for lunch at a Thai restaurant in Kyoto. (Foreshadow, foreshadow?) Sunday, we met to go sightseeing in Osaka. Wednesday evening, we met for coffee. By Thursday, I knew I would marry this woman. No doubt in my mind. We didn't get married right then. In fact, we dated, then lived together for another year or so, then walked into the City Hall and signed the papers. That was over 30 years ago. Still good.

You know what the call a guy 40+ yrs old and never married yet ... ... extremely intelligent ... or gay Myself, definitely not the 1st girlfriend, as didn't marry till 25, she was 19. 17/23 when dating and that seemed like a big age gap then Seemed a common theme with my relationships, and gaps got wider as I got older 🙄 Married and she couldn't legally drink alcohol in some states. Never had kids, as never met a woman that was mother worthy, until present wife, but didn't think it right to have one, at 50+ yrs old. Plus I already had the village orphan at that point, and one is more than enough. People wonder why they can't get out of that working, but no savings rut. Live with those stupid choices. Having kids when you can't afford them, along with depreciating 'look at me' toys on borrowed money

I had a standing rule, date 2 yrs before marriage, and kept to it, first 2 marriages. After 2nd marriage, single for over 15 yrs. Broke the 2 yr rule with first Thai wife, which ended less than 1 yr in Didn't marry 2nd Thai wife till after living together for 8 yrs, and still living together now for total of 20 yrs. Should be the last one for me

I find that both members of those kinds of relationships, usually married right out of high school, are some of the most solid and committed relationships in the world. Most guys nowadays are Incels, single, or chauvinistic ***holes who end up as sexpats in Thailand. Unlike you, I find these guys to be rock-solid husbands, fathers, and members of their communities. I envy them.
